Multiple licenses/certifications to choose from: CDL License, OSHA 10-hr certification, Flagger certification, CPR certification. Guaranteed job placement with ElectriCom upon completion!
RESPONSIBILITIES


Attend Apprenticeship Trainings at SCC campus. Safely operate equipment such as directional drills, mini excavators, backhoes, and/or cable plows. Safely use various tools and equipment such as compressors, tampers, jack hammers, locators, etc. Flexible hours, including overtime. (overtime could be required) Location of job sites will dictate out of town travel. Must be willing to learn and grow with organization. Routine Training as assigned (LMS, OSHA - 10 hour, etc.). Roadside Traffic Control. Candidate will also be expected to interact with and communicate well with management, co-workers, and customers.

We are looking for a Production Laborer for our sawmill located in Jacksonville, FL.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining safe work areas, collecting debris, and disposing of sawdust and dropped lumber in assigned areas
  • Cleaning industrial equipment and workstations
  • Relieving production positions; operating various light and heavy industrial machinery
  • Showing a willingness and flexibility to perform various job assignments that may change daily
  • Supporting our culture of safety by adhering to mill safety policies and procedures at all times *No High School Diploma or GED required*

Required skills and experience include:

  • Ability to work outdoors in all temperatures in loud, high volume environments performing physical tasks throughout the shift
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position which includes walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform all tasks in accordance with West Fraser safety policies and procedures

JOB DESCRIPTION

The SUBSTATION APPRENTICE assists Substation Technicians in installing and/or repairing electrical systems, and associated material and equipment within the high voltage transmission and substation electrical industry.

JOB DUTIES

+ Perform work as directed by your supervisor

+ Assist in installing and maintain switchgear, switches, lightening arrestors, insulators, and transformers

+ Ability to learn equipment operations (crane, flatbed truck, trailer, forklift, aerial lift)

+ Safely work on and around powerlines

+ Assist with stringing overhead powerlines

+ Assist in carrying poles, digging holes, and other such operations involved in setting or replacing poles

+ Be able to understand and communicate hand signals required for equipment operation

+ Have the ability to learn the work performed in a substation and work in accordance with the power company standards.

+ Requires ability to work for extended periods of time in heat, direct sunlight, rain or cold

+ Adhere to all safety policies and procedures

+ Willing to travel and work overtime

+ Perform rigorous manual work

+ Follow detailed directions with positive attitude

+ Have no issues with heights or in confined spaces

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

+ Must have basic understanding of rigging, hand lines, and lineman knot tying

+ Basic understanding of equipment and sling weight limitations as well as knowing the proper requirements to bind or tie down loads for safe transportation

+ Understanding of the safety sensitive functions involved with working with energized high voltage systems.

+ Understands and applies electrical theory and principles

+ Understands and avoids substation and powerline electrical hazards

+ CDL Class A driver's license or learners permit with a clean driving record is a plus

+ NCCER Powerline Worker is a plus

+ Lineman course graduate or equivalent background
