A new opportunity has arisen for a Surface Prep Technician. As the Surface Prep Technician is responsible for performing various manufacturing processes in one or more areas: clean propulsion hubs and internal parts for inspection, provide assistance in packaging of completed assemblies, and preparing equipment / tooling for Assemblers.

Key Accountabilities:
- Produces the quantity of work as expected and ensures fully utilization of all equipment.
- Responsible for the upkeep on assigned area, PPE, and tooling.
- Follow health, safety and environmental procedures and regulations.
- Follows all established protocols such as housekeeping, tool control, and training plans.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Have no allergic reaction to chemicals or materials used in performing related tasks.
- Ability to lift engine components weighing up to approximately 50 pounds.
- Ability to learn use of precision measuring tools (Micrometers, Indicators, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to work any shift and overtime as needed.

How you'll help us Keep Climbing (overview & key responsibilities)
This requisition is only intended for candidates part of the PFE-FTE Selection program with a Delta Contractor. Please only apply if you meet these criteria.
As a Surface Preparation Technician, you will utilize steam, detergents, acids, chemicals, blast media and automated equipment to completely clean and prepare engine, APU, and landing gear parts for NDT inspections and repairs.
In this role, you will be required to learn all processes and functions within the shop and be willing to help with other functions when necessary. Employees may be subject to changing and/or rotating shifts as needed to support the maintenance operation. This position requires inside as well as outside work depending on the task.
In addition to the basic requirements for a Surface Preparation Technician , the following will apply. An employee must be classified as a permanent full-time employee in Department 271 for a minimum of one year. They must also demonstrate a proficiency in the shop operations in all areas of the department as outlined by SOJTs for the shop.
Additionally, successful candidates:
+ Must practice safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
+ Read and write English and be able to comprehend and apply information contained in technical manuals.
+ Meet the physical requirement which qualify a person to perform essential job functions including the ability to lift up to 70 pounds.
+ Possess basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic disciplines as they apply to aircraft systems.
+ Should be able to multi-task and work under pressure.
The minimum starting hourly rate for this position is $34.31 with a potential maximum hourly rate of $19.23. The ability to reach the maximum hourly rate is dependent upon several other offered premiums (Examples would include but not limited to - Airframe and Powerplant license , Shift differential, Station location differential, Line Maintenance differential, Skill differential).
