Systems engineer/architect job description

Minimum qualifications:

+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

+ 5 years of experience working with Mobile/Embedded SoCs.

Preferred qualifications:

+ Experience driving system architecture decisions from a software perspective.

+ Expertise with Android Architecture, Kernel, Frameworks, Services, etc.

+ Comprehensive knowledge of interactions between software and different IP blocks, and general and special purpose compute units.

+ Ability to traverse across the stack from Silicon to Apps.

As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. In this role, as part of the Silicon System Architecture team, you will enable software/hardware co-design of SoCs by leveraging your system software expertise and influence IP and SoC architecture and system software architecture.

+ Influence hardware decisions by thorough analysis of system and first-party software. Influence software architecture to leverage Silicon goodness.

+ Collaborate closely with Google Research, Pixel, and Software teams to deliver product differentiating experiences.

+ Build reference software to enable effective and optimal usage of Silicon features.

+ Architect solutions that meet power, performance, and area goals.

In the late 1970's, the Bose home audio business was off and running! Our founder, Dr. Amar Bose, sat in an office at MIT, musing with a colleague about a new idea. When crafting speakers for the home, it was impossible to account for the acoustics of the room those speakers sat in, where they were placed, and where they were in relation to the listener. But in the automobile cabin, you could account for all three. So, it would stand to reason that a sound system specifically crafted for a certain audio cabin could drastically improve the in-car audio experience. And when in 1982, the first Cadillac Seville rolled off the line with the first factory installed, Bose custom-designed audio system ever, the potential of Dr. Bose's idea was realized!

As a System Engineer/Architect at Vectrus, you will provide support to multiple DoD Program Offices as well as our commercial customers. You will work with our customers to help them establish system design requirements and ensure that the systems we provide meet these requirements and perform with operational excellence.
Responsibilities

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

• Define interactions between software components. • Define software layers and the interactions between the layers. • Seek out multiple approaches to analyze and define interactions between software and external systems. • Ensure system implementation meets architectural requirements and standards. • Identify system constraints and ensure systems are designed to operate with the known constraints. • Document software designs and architectures. • Work with customers to ensure the system design and architecture address the customers' requirements. • Participate and bring value to customer and internal meetings and discussions.

Material & Equipment Directly Used:

Servers, high-end developer computers, and various hardware components.

Working Environment:

Work will be performed in an office environment approximately 90% of the time. Some laboratory work may be required. Local travel is required with the possibility of regional and international travel roughly 5 to 10% of the time.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience/Certifications:

• Three (3) years' experience in military system development and fielding, including large-scale applications. • Two (2) years' experience documenting system requirements, design specifications, installation considerations, and other system-related information. • Two (2) years' experience with Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Standard Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI), DoD acquisition processes, and architectural products for interoperability among the DoD components. • Active SECRET Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's (4 year) degree from an accredited College or University in a related STEM field.
