A week in the life of a AEGIS/SPY Radar Combat System Trainer/Material Evaluator:

* Manage AEGIS/SPY Radar Combat Systems material assessments.
* Observe Combat Systems OCSOT, Air Defense (AD) and Self Defense (SD) Detect-to-Engage (DTE) events and prepare written and verbal reports to the ship, SEA-21/443 and Type Commander representatives. Assist in developing class equipment trends and commonalities from INSURV and TYCOM Ready event inspection results and provide recommendations for improvements that can be implemented in acquisition and/or availability planning.
* Observe Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) demonstrations
* Work directly with ships force in planning and prioritizing maintenance actions, which will lead to material improvement in the SPY Radar performance.
* Conduct shipboard surveys, prioritize repairs and train ships force in support of INSURV preparation. Provide AEGIS/SPY Radar and Combat Systems written assessments of material condition, crew knowledge, in support of INSURV preparation progress to the ship, SEA 21/443, and the individual ships chain of command, as required.
* Make recommendations for providing additional SEA21/443 assistance if needed and participate in post-INSURV Hot wash events to capture Lessons Learned and process issues in order to improve combat readiness.

Responsibilities include:

+ Train staff members in the use of the EMR system, Epic.

+ Enroll users in classes and assign roles based on job position.

+ Prepare for Epic classes: set up classroom and facilitate the class.

+ Provide training on other software as needed.

i3 is seeking a Distributed Training System Simulation & Stimulation (DTS Sim/Stim) Red hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) System Administrator in Huntsville, AL. The selected candidate will operate & maintain a Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system based architecture for the Distributed Training System Simulation & Stimulation (DTS Sim/Stim) to support Command Control Battle Management Communications (C2BMC) Warfighter training. Work location is at the Aviation & Missile Center (AvMC) on Redstone Arsenal, AL.
Responsibilities

+ Maintain operation of RHEL computer systems, including coordination with other system and network administration staff and program teams.

+ Monitor and manage system resources, including CPU usage, disk usage, and response times to maintain operating efficiency.

+ Perform systems security administration functions, including creating user profiles and accounts.

+ Other duties may include setting up administrator accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.

+ Interact with users and evaluates vendor products. Coordinate installations and provides backup recovery.

+ Develop and monitor Department of Defense (DOD), facility specific policies, procedures and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.

+ Support the maintenance and sustainment of the DTS SimStim supporting daily training while interfacing with the Command Control Battle Management Communications system (C2BMC) and the Ground Based Mid-course Defense (GMD) Systems Trainer (GST.

+ Must be able to work well within a small team collaborating with Cyber Security and Integration team members.

+ The individual will work closely with a mission-focused team that plans, conducts, and supports missile defense training events for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), the Warfighter, and other missile defense stakeholders.

+ Some events may feature Warfighter Operator-In-The-Loop (OITL) participation, and include developmental missile defense system elements or simulations.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

+ Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required.

+ The candidate must be able to install, troubleshoot, repair, operate, and maintain computers and network equipment.

+ Must have the ability to build Linux systems, both physical and virtual. Must have experience with RHEL System Administration and Operating System patching support.

+ Must have at least one Linux certification (e.g. Linux+, LPIC, RHCSA, and RHCE).

+ Currently possess a CompTIA Security+ certification or be able to obtain it within a reasonable amount of time after hire at no cost to the government.

+ Must possess a minimum of a DOD Secret security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).

Preferred:

+ Ability to navigate Linux directory structure, file system, etc.

+ Knowledge of cyber requirements, including updates, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).

+ Ability to install Red Hat OS from scratch, while meeting STIG requirements for disk partitioning and file structure.

+ Knowledge of Logical Volume Manager (LVM) and volume groups.

+ Possess a working knowledge of RPM Package Manager, how to create repositories and populate them with available packages, and how to connect to and utilize Red Hat Satellite to update downstream systems.

+ General knowledge of computer hardware, CPU requirements, RAM, disk types, and how to physically replace or upgrade components of servers and tower workstations.

+ Ability to navigate across racks using KVM consoles.

+ Ability to manage multiple systems, both on and offsite using Secure Shell Protocol.

+ Experience working with VMWare ESXi virtualized environments.

+ Possess a working knowledge of DoD security policies and procedures.

+ Knowledge and experience with networks and Cisco IOS and devices. Ability to configure networking and troubleshoot network issues via Cisco command line. Includes modifying or even creating internal routes and creating and managing VLANs. Understanding of the various security zones between peered networks (Army & MDACNET).

+ Knowledge of missile defense concepts of operation, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), and Integrated Missile Defense (IMD) system architectures. Previous experience with the Missile Defense Agency, operations center, or a ballistic missile defense system such as (GFC or C2BMC).
