Job Description

CDG's Design Technology Department is dedicated to helping our engineers and designers with Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, GeoPak/OpenRoads and other design software within our offices. We work with laser scanning, photogrammetry, and drones. We create renderings and animations and utilize virtual reality and augmented reality. The Design Technology Department spends half its time experimenting with potential software, making Revit families, AutoCAD blocks, custom menus, and implementing other tools to help our engineers and designers work more efficiently and to better communicate our designs with our clients. The other half of the time is spent on project work helping with overflow from other departments. It's a CAD/BIM tech geek's dream job.

The preferred candidate must be able to learn quickly, figure things out on their own, be creative, be willing to tackle challenging issues, and work with little supervision. Knowing how to code and/or use MicroStation is a plus. Dynamo, AutoLISP, Python, SQL, and/or .net knowledge can be a valuable asset to all departments.

Job Requirements

Impact and Opportunity:

This Engineering Associate is an entry-level technical role who is on the professional Engineer license track that will apply basic to intermediate engineering principles to complete design computations, prepare written technical reports, design plans, and details. The Engineering Associate may be called upon to make minor project decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepares and reviews design computations, plan designs, and drawings.
* Reviews submittals and coordinates project submissions.
* Prepares and reviews specifications, draft letters, and written technical reports.
* Completes inspections and field work assignments as needed.
* Researches, reviews, interprets, and understands written regulations, code compliance, and permit requirements and applies them to design projects.
* Maintains appropriate documentation of work and project records.
* Possesses knowledge of Codes and Standards applicable to project designs.
* Develops technically accurate, clean, and deliverable drawings.
* Promotes, utilizes, and supports quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors and omissions.
* Performs work within assigned budgets.

Requirements:

* Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in position relevant Engineering field from ABET accredited school
* Experience: Zero (0) to three (3) years' job-related experience.
* Licensure/Certification: Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Microstation, InRoads (Surfaces and Templates), Sketch-Up, Photoshop, and other related software programs preferred.
