CDG Engineers, Inc. is looking to add a design technologies expert to their St. Louis, MO office. CDG is a multi-discipline consulting engineering firm headquartered in St. Louis. The firm has approximately 80 personnel with capabilities in civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural disciplines primarily servicing the fields of infrastructure, power, mining, industrial, and agriculture. CDG is known for solving some of the most complex problems in challenging environments and our staff is expected to regularly engage in high level problem solving to enable our clients to be successful.

Job Description

CDG's Design Technology Department is dedicated to helping our engineers and designers with Revit, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, GeoPak/OpenRoads and other design software within our offices. We work with laser scanning, photogrammetry, and drones. We create renderings and animations and utilize virtual reality and augmented reality. The Design Technology Department spends half its time experimenting with potential software, making Revit families, AutoCAD blocks, custom menus, and implementing other tools to help our engineers and designers work more efficiently and to better communicate our designs with our clients. The other half of the time is spent on project work helping with overflow from other departments. It's a CAD/BIM tech geek's dream job.

The preferred candidate must be able to learn quickly, figure things out on their own, be creative, be willing to tackle challenging issues, and work with little supervision. Knowing how to code and/or use MicroStation is a plus. Dynamo, AutoLISP, Python, SQL, and/or .net knowledge can be a valuable asset to all departments.

Job Requirements

* Proficient in Revit and/or Microstation.
* Programming experience is preferred.
* Knowledge with Dynamo, AutoLISP, Python, SQL and/or .net is a plus.
* Must be a creative, quick learner who can work independently
* Excellent oral and written communications skills.
* Must be able to demonstrate that s/he can perform all of the essential functions of the position.

Impact and Opportunity:

This Engineering Associate is an entry-level technical role who is on the professional Engineer license track that will apply basic to intermediate engineering principles to complete design computations, prepare written technical reports, design plans, and details. The Engineering Associate may be called upon to make minor project decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepares and reviews design computations, plan designs, and drawings.
* Reviews submittals and coordinates project submissions.
* Prepares and reviews specifications, draft letters, and written technical reports.
* Completes inspections and field work assignments as needed.
* Researches, reviews, interprets, and understands written regulations, code compliance, and permit requirements and applies them to design projects.
* Maintains appropriate documentation of work and project records.
* Possesses knowledge of Codes and Standards applicable to project designs.
* Develops technically accurate, clean, and deliverable drawings.
* Promotes, utilizes, and supports quality assurance and quality control processes to improve the quality of deliverables and reduce design errors and omissions.
* Performs work within assigned budgets.

Requirements:

* Education: Bachelor's or Master's Degree in position relevant Engineering field from ABET accredited school
* Experience: Zero (0) to three (3) years' job-related experience.
* Licensure/Certification: Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Microstation, InRoads (Surfaces and Templates), Sketch-Up, Photoshop, and other related software programs preferred.
* Must have a strong desire to expand knowledge base and undertake new responsibilities.
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook), possess strong oral & written communication skills, and have strong organizational & time management skills.
* Must be able to work both independently and as part of a project team.

Citizenship/Passport/Security Clearance: The candidate must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of SECRET security clearance.

Xator is seeking professionals with an engineering degree capable of completing their own designs in technical security systems with the use of AutoCAD.
Responsibilities:

* Produce to scale architectural floorplans, site plans and technical security designs using AutoCAD.
* Produce technical security designs following the standards set forth by NEC, OBO and other documents.
* Produce technical security wiring diagrams, power schedules and details.
* Able to read, interpret electrical and electromechanical schematics and architectural drawings.
* Able to create material takeoffs based off the design created.
* Able to preform technical surveys of existing conditions of technical related equipment.
* Communicate professionally ideas and designs to clients and other staff.

Skills:

* Understanding of technical, architectural and mechanical drawings.
* Understanding of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
* Progressive use of AutoCAD versions 18, 20, 22 and 23.
* Progressive use of Microsoft Excel and Word.

Education:

* Associates degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology (experience may be substituted for education)

Travel up to 20% to OCONUS locations
