Responsibilities:
Automation Execution & Documentation:
Independently develop, configure, and test automated systems and control equipment, including PLCs, HMIs, and plant-wide automation networks.

Project Planning & Scheduling:
Proactively plan and manage automation commissioning and integration activities.

Review and interpret technical documentation (e.g., URS, FS, P&IDs, SOPs) to develop system architecture and testing strategies.
Translate specifications into functional test cases and ensure all automation requirements are fully verified and documented.
Communication & Troubleshooting:
Provide clear and timely updates on automation status, risks, and corrective actions.
Independently troubleshoot system issues during commissioning and operational phases, implement solutions, and maintain optimized and compliant automated systems.

Hands-on experience with automation commissioning and qualification, including operation of automated manufacturing equipment (Rockwell PlantPAx preferred).
Experience performing chamber temperature mapping, worst-case load justification, and periodic requalification reviews to confirm the validated state.
Experience with cleaning cycle development, rinse sampling, surface swabbing, and visual inspections to support cleaning validation or verification.
Prior qualification/testing experience with process equipment (e.g., synthesizers, UF, HPLC, lyophilizers, CIP, WFI, clean utilities, cleanrooms) and systems using Unicorn software.
Experience with electronic validation management systems (e.g., Veeva, Kneat, ValGenesis) and familiarity with PLC code/ladder logic to support testing and regression analysis.

Job Description
The Principal SQA Engineer is part of SQA team and the overall software development team.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Participating in verification, testing, and documentation of Medical Device Server software systems and web-based reporting applications
· Establishing and documenting testing methodologies, along with defect tracking and reporting
· Designing, developing, and maintaining test automation frameworks for both UI and API testing.
· Creating, executing, and maintaining test scripts for use within projects and regression testing.
· Setting up and maintaining an environment of testing hardware and operating systems as well as other software.
· Working closely with the software development team and testing software in all phases of the development cycle.
· Developing in-depth product knowledge.
PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field from a four-year college or university.
· 10+ years with test automation with Python, and automation with Java is a plus.
· Advanced proficiency in Python (including OOP), Java, and Bash scripting.
· Capable of developing and maintaining automation frameworks using tools like Selenium and Pytest.
· Extensive experience with REST API automation using Python wrappers, Postman and Curl.
· Capable of developing GitLab CI/CD pipelines for automated testing.
· Good knowledge and testing experience in server software applications.
· QA process development and testing experience with software that has a hardware component is a plus.
· Familiarity with client/server and web-based software applications as well as software installations.
· A strong sense of software quality and attention to details
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work successfully in various sizes of teams or independently to meet project deadlines.
· Ability to mentor staff

Requirements:
You'll be responsible for:
Supporting the development, documentation, and execution of test plans and procedures for Navy training system readiness.
Assisting with system verification and acceptance testing at customer or partner sites under the guidance of senior engineers.
Helping identify functional, performance, or integration issues discovered during testing and escalating findings appropriately.
Documenting test results, updating logs, and contributing to test reports and configuration tracking.
Assisting with the setup, configuration, and basic troubleshooting of hardware, test environments, and support equipment.
Participating in system design and development activities by attending demonstrations and providing test-related feedback.
Supporting installation, maintenance, and configuration updates for network and computer hardware as part of a team.
Maintaining hardware inventory and updating documentation for configuration changes and system modifications.
Working on tasks of moderate complexity with general supervision and growing independence over time.
Required Skills:
U.S. citizenship and an active DoD Secret clearance at the time of hire.
Experience working with or supporting the AN/BYG-1 Combat Control System (operator, maintainer, tester, or integrator experience acceptable).
Familiarity with the SWFTS community, submarine combat systems, or related Navy tactical/training environments.
Hands-on experience with the installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting of network or computer hardware.
Ability to follow established procedures, document results clearly, and work effectively within a structured test environment.
