Overview
A large acute care hospital in West Texas is seeking an experienced
Neonatal ICU Director
to provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for a
Level III NICU
and Transition Nursery. This role oversees a high-acuity neonatal program, including NICU transport services, and is responsible for quality outcomes, staff development, financial performance, and service line growth.
This opportunity is ideal for a NICU nursing leader with strong neonatal clinical expertise, proven leadership capability, and experience managing complex neonatal services.
Responsibilities
Provide 24/7 leadership oversight and operational accountability for the NICU, Transition Nursery, and NICU Transport program
Direct day-to-day operations, staffing, productivity, and workflow management
Lead budgeting, forecasting, cost containment, and capital planning initiatives
Develop and maintain staff competency, engagement, and satisfaction across neonatal services
Oversee quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards
Promote multidisciplinary collaboration across nursing, neonatology, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, laboratory, and support services
Support outreach, program development, and community engagement initiatives
Manage human resources functions including hiring, coaching, performance management, and staff development
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Active RN license (Texas or compact state)
Current BLS certification
Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Current S.T.A.B.L.E. certification
Preferred:
Master's degree
Prior leadership experience in a NICU or neonatal service line
Experience overseeing NICU transport services
