As a Tool and Die Maker, you will play a crucial role in developing tooling requirements based on production needs and providing component design direction and support for our current and potential projects. You'll be tasked with designing, reviewing, testing, and maintaining manufacturing processes, as well as investigating and resolving manufacturing-related issues. Additionally, you'll construct and alter a wide variety of jigs, fixtures, and gauges while sharing your knowledge with and training apprentices. Key Responsibilities: Analyze and understand specifications and tolerances. Set up and operate machine tools. Study blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualize end-products. Work both independently and as part of a team, handling projects as necessary. Construct and maintain dies and tooling, supporting other departments with Tool Room knowledge. Setup and operate all conventional Tool Room equipment. Repair and maintain complicated dies and construct new tooling. Maintain inventory of production tooling in the tool-room. Assist Manufacturing departments and Engineering with tool design and suggestions. Implement quality improvement measures. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain cleanliness. Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED preferred. Machine Tooling degree or certificate desired. Minimum of five years of experience working with precision machining such as surface grinders, lathes, and arbor presses. Proficient in basic reading, writing, and math including fractions and decimals. Mechanical ability and knowledge of tools and machinery. Some computer skills (MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Windows-based software). Strong communication skills. Ability to lift/pull up to forty (40) pounds.

A Day in Your Life at MKS: As an R&D Machinist (Machinist 4+) at MKS Inc. you will join the Engineering Services team to support our Engineering and Operations teams. MKS develops solutions to leading edge semiconductor manufacturing, electronics and packaging, and specialty industrial applications. We are seeking a detail-oriented candidate who works well in a team environment but can also work on their own to develop machining solutions for various complex applications. You Will Make an Impact By: Supports in-house R+D engineering, manufacturing engineering and service as a team. Portrays a customer service approach. Interfaces effectively and courteously with all customers. Work with SolidWorks drawings and models along with Mastercam to create CNC programs and set-ups. Multi-task on R+D projects with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines producing prototype parts from aluminum, copper, stainless steels, plastics. Ability to read blueprints, work from sketches, or written and verbal instructions to determine machining processes, procedures, tooling and fixtures requirements. Order materials and tooling required as needed. Performs a variety of complex machining operations and/or assembly tasks utilizing all standard machine shop equipment, such as, Haas 3 axis CNC, Bridgeport milling machine, engine lathe, drill presses, band saws, and power tools producing prototype parts, occasional production parts, modifications, repairs and failure analysis. Performs machine operations, such as milling, turning, facing, boring, drilling, grooving, reaming and chamfering. Verify that part dimensions conform to specifications and tolerances if required to +/- .0002. Job DescriptionSalary: $25 Westaff is seeking a Tool Repair/Machinist for our client in Amherst NH! 5:30am - 3pm Monday - Friday Primary Responsibilities: Working both independently and with guidance from the Engineering / Tool Shop staff, will perform a wide variety of tasks requiring a degree of skill. Those tasks will include but are not limited to assembly and fabrication of trim dies, repair/maintenance of existing tools, assist with equipment and tool fabrication/upgrades as needed. Will work from prints and verbal instructions to machine tight tolerance tooling. Normal Duties: Assemble new tooling and dies from machined subcomponents. Sharpen and troubleshoot trim tools to make sure they meet print requirements and cut consistently. Following safe work practices, perform tight tolerance machining of tools using typical toolroom equipment such as lathes, mills and surface grinders. Maintain associated paperwork to support quality systems. Maintain reasonable stocks of tool steels and die sets to support business activities. Work with Engineering to design and develop tooling and equipment upgrades to reduce costs, improve productivity or part manufacturability. May be required to work with outside vendors and contractors. May be required to assist with equipment installations and upgrades. Other duties as assigned. Normal Working Conditions: Will be exposed to oils, coolants, greases, maintenance and production chemicals. High temperatures, tight working spaces, changing priorities and time restraints will not be unusual. Required Skills, Education and Experience: Must have demonstrable knowledge of toolmaking and machining. This knowledge will include but not be limited to the safe operation of lathes, mills, surface grinders. Good shop math skills, ability to read blueprints and a good team player able to interface in a positive manner with co-workers, and work with a minimum of supervision. Must be able to read prints and sketches, understand tolerances and their effects on machining parts. Should be familiar with secondary finishing operations such as heat treating and tempering and their effects on parts so as to take those operations into consideration when fabricating tooling. Should have a combination of education and experience as follows: Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program and 1 year experience in tool fabrication, or 2 year degree or certificate in tooling/machining from a recognized education organization and 1-3 years increasing experience or 4 6 years increasing experience in a tool room environment. Or Accepted as a Tool Repair Apprentice 1. Training in shop math, tooling theory, blueprint reading and basic machine operation required. 2.
