Tower operator job description

The Tower Operator is responsible for all air traffic control during hours of operation and on an as needed basis.

* Control all traffic during hours of tower operation. Remain on call for all contract aircraft after normal operation hours.
* Issue clearance for IFR traffic departing Lake City .
* Work with fixed base operator (Lake City Unicom) as to arriving, departing and emergency aircraft.
* Issue all pertinent information, such as runway in use, wind speed and direction and altimeter reading to all arriving and departing aircraft.
* Report to Jacksonville Center down times of arriving IFR aircraft.
* Control all ground vehicles either by radio or light gun during tower hours of operation.
* Work with HAECO Fire Department on all arriving and departing contract aircraft and all aircraft emergencies both contract and on-contract.
* Give estimated weather conditions when requested by pilots when reports are available.
* Notify all FAA agencies with all pertinent information concerning emergencies.
* Maintain log of all arriving and departing aircraft during hours of operation.
* Keep HAECO Records Department notified with arrival and departure times of contract aircraft.
* Work with company contracted customers and ETC dispatch offices to make sure of all arrivals and departures and information such as fuel loads and pass on all pertinent information to HAECO Maintenance to expedite handling contract aircraft.
* Coordinate flight crew transportation to and from either Jacksonville or Gainesville .
* File flight plans for pilots when requested.
* Aid, abet and expedite all aircraft in a safe and orderly manner.

Secondary Duties:

Perform other work as instructed by the Airport Operations Manager.

Accountabilities:

The Tower Operator is accountable to the Aircraft Operations Manager for performing daily assignments in a timely, accurate and professional manner.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum:

* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Must possess Certified Tower Operator (CTO) certificate.
* Class II medical certificate required.
* Read, write and understand the English Language.

Physical Requirements:

* Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods of time, climb steps, ladders and/or service stands.
* Normal or corrected hearing and vision required.
* Must have a valid driver's license and be able to drive company vehicles.

• Ability to operate all vehicles assigned to them.
• Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, checking that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned.
• Load cargo as instructed at designed location. Secure all cargo for safe transport.
• Maintain logs of hours and of vehicles service and repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
• Work with dispatch to calculate out the most efficient and effective driving routes.
• Inform dispatch and safety of any DOT fines, citations or any other relevant issues.
• Communication with Dispatch in regards to any potential customer issues such as; complaints, spills, leaks, incidents, accidents, injuries and vehicle issues.
• Communicate with maintenance in regards to any vehicle issues or needs and report any issues immediately.
• Keep you truck clean and orderly at all times.
• Responsible for general maintenance of truck, including but not limited to: checking oil and fuel levels.
• Complete all “pre-trip” requirements before each truck run and “post-trip” requirement at the end of each shift.
• Handle exposure to heavy traffic, dust, fumes, high and low temperatures, slippery surfaces, low-lighted work areas and high noise levels and handle high levels of stress.
• May be required to drive in hazardous conditions, including weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations.
• Ability to push 96 pounds, lift 63 pounds, pull 130 pounds and climb ladder with a minimum of 3 rungs regularly.
• Ability to read and navigate road maps and GPS systems and communicate via written orders and instructions.
• Follow company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Good interpersonal skills. Demonstrate professionalism; be courteous and friendly to customers at all times.
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned and operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Valid CDL class A license is required. Hazmat endorsement is preferred.
• 3+ years truck driving experience and 1+ experience operating equipment.
• Pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and 7-year background check.

Job Summary

Assure product meets quality and customer specifications through adherence to procedures and programs.

Essential Functions

* Sanitize towers every two hours
* Run towers in manual and auto mode
* Perform accurate inventory of cheese bags
* Break down of Tower during CIP
* Understanding of chemicals and their uses
* Proper cleaning of block conveyor lines
* Re-bag cheese if necessary
* Proper GMP in ready to eat area
* Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
* Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
* Perform other duties as assigned
