* Delivers non-stock receipts from receiving dock staging area for designated route as assigned; combines routes and customer orders from staging areas of warehouse and Central Distribution; assures packing slips are attached to items; delivers orders, obtains proper signatures, and notes exceptions and returns.
* Utilizes handheld device to enter delivery transactions in delivery log; reports exceptions to Materials Management Coordinator and/or Central Distribution Manager.
* Assists receivers in unloading trucks; checking in packages by comparing packing slip with product; attach computer generated packing slips to packages; places packages in the correct routes for delivery.
* Hand load rewrap or stack freight as necessary.
* Transports restock bulk inventory continuously from receiving dock or warehouse to breakdown area; moves inventory to warehouse stock locations via pallet jack, or cart; separates inventory cases into units of issue and stages in appropriate receptacle or vehicle.
* Transports dry ice to research lab locations and fill ice chests.
* Responds to emergency and rush deliveries as assigned and documents transaction.
* Maintains files and documentation in department.
* Performs daily housekeeping duties, established by department policy.
Qualifications
Education: High School graduate or equivalent.
Skills:
Ability to understand general written and verbal instructions
Effective communication skills to interact with customers in a clear and polite manner.
The Materials Transporter position covers the Central Distribution section of Materials Management 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 day per year. Overtime work is required.
