Ultrasound technologist job in Carmel, IN
This is a full-time Ultrasound Technologist located at North Hospital. The hours are Tuesday-Friday 10a-8:30p. Call and Holidays required.

Provides diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound to generate images of patients' internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. Responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment. Evaluates images for diagnostic quality and makes necessary adjustments to capture the best possible images. Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information. Ensures patient safety and comfort during procedures by explaining the process, positioning patients correctly, and adjusting equipment as needed. Familiar with current scan protocols. Maintains compliance with high level disinfection practices. Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed. Possesses familiarity with ultrasound contrast indications and administration practices. Provides intraoperative ultrasound as requested.
Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
For ACR accredited ultrasound departments. Requires active status through one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdomen, RDMS(AB), Obstetrics & Gynecology, RDMS(OB/GYN), or Pediatric Sonography, RDMS(PS), and/or Registered Vascular Technologist - Vascular Technology , RVT(VT); American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Registered Technologist - Sonography, RT(S) or Vascular Sonography, RT(VS) ; or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI): Registered Vascular Sonographer, RVS; as required by facility accreditation, if applicable. Exception: if performing breast ultrasound only, must obtain credential through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): RDMS(BR); or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Registered Technologist - Sonography & Breast US, RT(S)(BS), or Radiography , Mammography & Breast Ultrasound, RT(R)(M)(BS); within 18 months of hire.
For non-ACR accredited ultrasound departments. Requires candidates to meet one of the two following conditions: Must be actively pursuing ultrasound education and have already passed the ARDMS physics boards, or must have graduated from an ultrasound education program. Requires certification through one of the methods mentioned in the accredited section above within 12 months of hire.
May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

* Selects proper exposure factors/protocols for each procedure/selects proper settings
* Positions and instructs patients; utilizes protective shielding, immobilization, and supportive devices as required
* Assumes responsibility for the care and safety of the patients undergoing procedures
* Transfers images from file to file/archiving system
* Primary imaging performed electronically on PACs
* Performs routinely required paperwork, scheduling, assists Radiologists/managers as needed
* Restores images from PAC system
* Responsible for the operations of the injector and properly sets equipment
* Starts an IV and administers IV /oral contrast media
* Alters activities to reflect/ensure adequate care appropriate to the age of patients served (i.e., adolescent, geriatric, pediatric, neonatal, adult) as described in the area/unit age-specific and/or job specific competencies
Job Requirements
Demonstrates skills and knowledge acquired through graduation from a Radiologic Technology Program. Minimum of one (1) year clinical experience in radiologic technology with emphasis on a specialty modality.
* Indiana licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, Nuclear Medicine Technologist and/or ARDMS registration
* ARRT, ARDMS, CCI, NMTCB or ARMRIT registered within 6 months of hire which includes compliance with Professional CEU requirements
* Maintains and shows proof of current CPR Certification
* Bachelor of Science degree with a CT, MRI, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, or Interventional Radiology major; preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Ability to use age appropriate communication skills.
* Excellent command of radiologic anatomy as well as cross sectional anatomy
* Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served
* Must demonstrate growth and development knowledge principles over the life span and possess the ability to assess data/interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs and cognitive abilities detailed in the department/area/unit job competencies
