The Cardiac Sonographer reports to the Cardiac Service Line Director/ Manager. This role performs various modalities of cardiac ultrasound including transthoracic echo, stress echo, and assistance in transesophageal echo. This role also performs other noninvasive testing to include electrocardiograms and application of holter monitors. Cardiac Sonographer is accountable for the preparation of preliminary interpretation reports for echocardiograms, billing procedures, study transmittal and coverage of satellite sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs echocardiograms in accordance with lab standards while meeting daily volume expectations. Responds to emergent exams is a timely manner. Follows department workflows for reporting, billing and standard daily performance.
Ensures patient care is provided in clean, safe, quiet, and secure environment. Renders excellent patient care to patients and families. All hospital related interactions are courteous and confidential and in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to deliver developmental and age-appropriate care to patients.
Participates in staff meetings, research studies, quality assurance activities and working groups. Cooperates and assists in obtaining institutional, divisional and departmental initiatives and goals.
Assists in the teaching of students and new technicians.
Assesses ultrasound images for identification of problem areas for focused review of images and data.
Oversees the daily operation of echocardiograph services and equipment.
Assists with creating and updating policies and procedures related to echocardiography.
Ensures continuing education requirements are met.
Demonstrates knowledge of noninvasive cardiac diagnostic testing as well as operation and maintenance of equipment including electrocardiograms and holter/event monitor application.
Participates in call coverage
Performs other duties as assigned.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Pediatric Echocardiography by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required or registry eligible and obtainment of registration within 12 months of employment.
RDCS (PE) certification by the ARDMS is highly preferred.
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Adult Echocardiography by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) registry eligible and obtainment of registration within 90 days of hire.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Completion of an accredited Cardiac Ultrasound program (Bachelors or Associates Degree). In lieu of degree, will consider high school diploma or equivalent with applicable experience.

Analytical skills necessary to effectively detect pathologies based on knowledge of physiological cause and effect of diseases and clinical procedures.
Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with patients/families, administrative/clinical personnel and physicians.

Ability to work at CHKD Main Hospital and satellite locations, as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Clinical patient care environment with minimal exposure to hazards such as excess noise, dust, or extremes in temperature. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, body fluids and other conditions common to the healthcare environment. Moderate adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities.

wear film badges and be aware of and practice the safety policies and procedures of the
medical center and participate in quality assurance activities as directed.
6 Maintains records and files of exams performed on patients. This includes the
maintenance of patient logbooks, registration and editing of patient exams in the computerized
information system, copying of images (to CD or film), logging patients on the Hospital
information system Radiology information system (HIS-RIS) (switching to Cerner soon) work
list.
7 Properly identifies patient images. This is essential so that mistaken identity of patient
images does not occur. The technician must be certain that the patient I.D. band and the
request are identical.
8 Responsible to explain exams to competent patients so that patients understand what is
to be done as well as what hazards, if any, are possible.
9 Performs irregular hour emergency scans on standby/on call, 24 hours per day,
coverage.
10 Works independently and reports any unusual problems or conflicts to the Imaging
Chief Technologist.

Overview
The UltrasoundTechnologist in the acute care setting will perform a wide range of ultrasound exams, such as general ultrasound, breast, OB/GYN, and other ultrasound exams on incoming patients. Uses imaging equipment and soundwaves to form images for diagnosis. Produces quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures. Provides and maintains clinical documentation per scope of practice.
Educates patients/families regarding the procedure to be performed. Explains the procedure and independently performs ultrasound exams on patients following established protocols.
Evaluates images for quality. Interprets what image is captured. Presents images and preliminary findings to the physician.
Maintains the ultrasound equipment and sterilizes the room. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Troubleshoots and ensures equipment functionality.
Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services.
Understands and adheres to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards. Follows RHS policies and procedures. Reports variances.

The Cardiac Sonographer reports to the Cardiac Service Line Director/ Manager. This role performs various modalities of cardiac ultrasound including transthoracic echo, stress echo, and assistance in transesophageal echo. This role also performs other noninvasive testing to include electrocardiograms and application of holter monitors. Cardiac Sonographer is accountable for the preparation of preliminary interpretation reports for echocardiograms, billing procedures, study transmittal and coverage of satellite sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs echocardiograms in accordance with lab standards while meeting daily volume expectations. Responds to emergent exams is a timely manner. Follows department workflows for reporting, billing and standard daily performance.
Ensures patient care is provided in clean, safe, quiet, and secure environment. Renders excellent patient care to patients and families. All hospital related interactions are courteous and confidential and in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Demonstrates the knowledge and ability to deliver developmental and age-appropriate care to patients.
Participates in staff meetings, research studies, quality assurance activities and working groups. Cooperates and assists in obtaining institutional, divisional and departmental initiatives and goals.
Assists in the teaching of students and new technicians.
Assesses ultrasound images for identification of problem areas for focused review of images and data.
Oversees the daily operation of echocardiograph services and equipment.
Assists with creating and updating policies and procedures related to echocardiography.
Ensures continuing education requirements are met.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Pediatric Echocardiography by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required or registry eligible and obtainment of registration within 12 months of employment.
RDCS (PE) certification by the ARDMS is highly preferred.
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Adult Echocardiography by The American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) registry eligible and obtainment of registration within 90 days of hire.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Sentara Port Warwick is now hiring a Full-Time Vascular Lab Technologist for the Hampton Roads area in VA! To include coverage for Sentara Careplex, Sentara Williamsburg, Sentara Obici and surrounding areas as needed.
Hours: Monday-Friday, Dayshift 8a-430p. Rotating call and weekend coverage.
Overview
A Vascular Lab Technologist performs non-invasive vascular testing procedures and writes preliminary interpretations. Assists physician in determination of appropriate testing based on clinical assessment and symptoms.
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Ultrasound technology with Vascular or Ultrasound/vascular technology required. In lieu of degree: Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS). A minimum of 12 months of vascular testing experience with the performance of a least 600 noninvasive vascular examinations under the supervision of medical or technical staff.

The UltrasoundTechnologist performs ultrasound procedures and techniques producing diagnostic images for a licensed practitioner to interpret. The Tech demonstrates direct patient care in a compassionate and timely manner.
Essential Functions:
* Confirms the quality, accuracy, and confidentiality of all pertinent patient, lab, and procedural data.
* Knowledge in workflows, procedures, and processes of the imaging modalities.
* Responsible for patient documentation, procedure preparation and instructions.
* Documents sonographer's impressions and relays findings to physician.
* Participates in performance improvement projects and the education of new staff.
Education:
* Associates, America Medical Association (AMA) allied health training program in Ultrasound (required)
Licensure/Certification:
* Credentialed in Ultrasound technology by one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or Sonographer by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (preferred, or must obtain within 2 years)
* Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, required prior to direct patient care)
* Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen, Breast, Obstetrics/Gynecology (preferred)
Experience:
* 1 year experience as an Ultrasound Tech (preferred)
* EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) (preferred)
* Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) (preferred)
