PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Coats surfaces of support equipment components, accessories and related equipment, with paint, polyurethane, epoxy, resin or other materials, using brushes, rollers, and other devices.
Cleans corrosion areas to include, inspection, identification, treatment, preservation, wash and lubrication. Required to handle hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties.
Employs knowledge of corrosion theory, conditions leading to corrosion and the procedures utilized to remove and treat corrosion.
Preparation of the parts/or components for repaint. Minor disassembly and assembly to the extent required to treat corrosion or repaint.
Performs component corrosion control to include washing, cleaning, corrosion detection, corrosion removal, metal treatment, and touch up painting.
Use appropriate powered tools consistent with corrosion removal and treatment.
Must be familiar with normal operational safety requirements, working on and around ground support equipment.
Must have a working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals, basic tools and special tools.
Comply with Service Instructions, Bulletins and Navy directives when directed.
Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.
Document work accomplished on Maintenance Action Form (MAF) or NALCOMIS System.
May be required to become trained and certified to become a SE Dispatcher.
Maintains the highest ethical personal and professional standards.

POSITION SCOPE AND CHARTER
Must provide proof of completion, or complete required Corrosion Control Training course as directed by COMNAVAIRINST 4790.2 (Series), within 30 days of hire.
Must have experience in corrosion detection, treatment and prevention.
Must be able to meet any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position.
Know location of safety data sheet (SDS) and applicable safety precautions.
May be required to perform scheduled inventories.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Must be able to work weekends, other shifts and overtime as required.

This classification activity is usually accomplished in a hangar/shop/flight line environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with these activities. May be required to lift objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50 pounds. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes of temperature, wind, rain, etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.
