About the role:
A working manager focused on operational support, administration of linux and AIX based databases and database applications
built on multiple database technologies and platforms. Provide leadership and mentor a team of exceptional database engineers and administrators, collaborating with platform service delivery teams to drive excellence.
About the team:
Global Infrastructure Operations – Database is a centralized operational database support team, providing support to all FIS business groups. The team partners closely with application platform teams, focused on operational support of database platforms, that delivering products and services to FIS customers. We are looking for energetic resources, motivated by technology and delivery of exceptional services to our customers.
What you will be doing:
• Develops and implements business plans, policies and procedures while collaborating with other departments
to prioritize database operational needs.
• Evaluates results within business unit to determine if organizational objectives are being met.
• Analyzes and resolves database operational issues and needs as related to design, coding and modification
of databases and database applications.
• Install, configure, tune and support database platforms
• Responsible for all activities related to the design, development and administration of computerized databases.
• Implement change, perform security related tasks, identify and recommend improvements to existing processes and procedures.
• Analyze technical problems and create solutions.
• Projects long-range requirements for database administration in conjunction with other managers in the
information systems function as well as business function managers.
• Prepares activity and progress reports regarding the database management section.
• Willingness to support 24x7 coverage as business needs require.
• Other related duties assigned as needed.
What you will need:
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
Added bonus if you have:
• Minimum 7+ years' experience with RHEL and AIX
• Experience managing small teams of technical engineers
• Proficient in shell scripting (bash, kshell, cshell, python, perl)
• Experience with database utilities on multiple hardware/software platforms using multiple database technologies
• Experience working with MUMPS and/or DB2 LUW a plus.
• Experience with RHEL and AIX clustering and high availability solutions.
• Experience with configuration management and automation (Ansible).
• Knowledge of end-to-end systems development life cycles, i.e., waterfall, iterative, agile and other modern
approaches to software development
• Proficiency to create and administer database technical environments, including developing and maintaining
unix shell scripts
• Excellent customer service skills that build high levels of customer satisfaction for internal and external clients
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in
the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
• Willingly shares relevant technical and/or industry knowledge and expertise to other resources
• Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, team and time management skills
• Is resourceful and proactive in gathering information and sharing ideas
• Proven project management skills
• Demonstrated customer-focused leadership ability
