About the Role:
U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking talent to join our Engineering Team as a Metallurgist. This position provides technical guidance to Operations in the areas of melting, casting and heat treatment for the production and processing of ductile iron pipe. The candidate must be able to relocate to Birmingham, Alabama.
Specific Responsibilities:
Involved in all phases of the iron melting, processing, holding and casting operations.
Providing input on Alloy selection, raw material inspection, storage and usage, Refractory selection, application and use.
Delivering iron having close temperature and chemical composition tolerances done at or below budgeted cost.
Chemical analyses techniques and determining the proper metallic mix for melting and proper alloy additions.
On all phases of the casting process including mold condition, machine condition, machine set-up, alloy additions and pipe handling.
On all phases of the annealing process including temperature control, oven variables, and oven condition.
Reviewing operating reports, evaluating cost data, the type and quantity of pipe produced, defectives, etc., to determine corrective actions needed.
Works closely with Operations personnel to discuss problems and recommends solutions.
Take corrective actions as required.
Evaluates new alloys and materials; develops new processes and procedures as well as training on their use.
Recommends and explains benefits of new technology to plant management for evaluation.
Assists in Training on the Technical aspects of the processes in use.
Performs other related duties as required.
Skills and Qualifications:
College graduate with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science or five to seven years' experience in the application of this knowledge to activities, such as supervision, safety, technical know-how and labor relations.
Familiarity with coreless and channel electric melting processes.
Experience in interpreting the metallography of the iron to determine compliance to process parameters and changes required, assess the quality of welds, and other issues that may arise.
Possesses the ability to train the metallurgical aspects of the operations.
The equivalent knowledge and training in order to provide a working knowledge of the regulations, practices, specifications and procedures concerned with the operations of the Company.
Must have the ability to communicate with others in this technology.
Must understand cost data, specifically related to the melting operation and in general to the plants as a whole.
Scope Data/Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
The employee will be working in an office environment but will be walking through the plant on a regular basis exposing the employee to foundry operations.
The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: extreme heat and cold, noise, vibration, oils, and atmospheric conditions such as dust, fumes, and metallic particles.
The employee will be required to perform the following actions regularly: standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting. The majority of the actions will be standing and walking.

Primary Purpose of Position
Demonstrates mastery of skills and extensive subject matter knowledge in carrying out assignments associated with the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and proposed modification of plant specific nuclear licensed Operations training programs.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities
Drives the clean energy center (CEC) and personnel performance improvement through the use of training. Coordinates, and conducts performance-based operations Reactor Operator (RO)/Non-Licensed Operator (NLO) training programs as required by user community in accordance with Constellation's systematic approach to training model, department procedures, and with proper application of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases.
Assures the training programs are maintained current and incorporate information gained from Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) Significant Operating Experience Reports and Constellation Nuclear Event Reports (NERs), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Bulletins and Information Notices, CEC design change and backfit information, CEC procedure changes and revisions, new regulations, and training effectiveness reports.
Prepares trainee examination and conducts trainee evaluations for classroom, laboratory, OJT, and simulator environments, as appropriate and conducts counseling sessions for trainees, evaluates the results, and recommends/develops individualized training programs.
Support CEC and fleet in the areas of business initiatives, project management, refuel outage support, emergency preparedness duties, and special projects.
Participates in NRC, INPO and management audits, and prepares responses to audit findings.
Maintains knowledge of plant operations, disciplinary skills and techniques, commensurate with the responsibility to develop and conduct effective, high-quality training.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Accountable for the in-field application of policies and procedure relating to applied Radiation Protection (RP) programs. Plan and prepare work packages for work to be performed by the respective maintenance departments to ensure that the Clean Energy Center (CEC) maintenance is performed in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner, in compliance with the Quality Assurance (QA) manual, company policies, procedures, and applicable codes and standards.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Performs advanced regulatory/technical problem solving in support of nuclear plant operations. Responsible for regulatory/technical decisions. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Here's what you'll be doing:
- Install and wire specified alarm system devices.
- Test and verify that all systems and devices installed (alarm panels, sirens, horns, strobes, etc.) function properly and in accordance to manufacturer's specifications.
- Use multimeters for particular volts and OHM readings and circuit analysis.
- Hook up RJ31X to specified panel mountings of particular devices such as motion detectors, keypads, and controls.
- Program alarm systems via programmer or keypad.
- Explain and demonstrate to the customer how the specific alarm system installed works.
- Complete proper paperwork and submit to the appropriate department on a daily basis.
- Communicate with clients, co-workers and Per Mar's Central Monitoring Station.

Primary Purpose of Position
Manage and monitor the work activities of the assigned Maintenance division (Instrumentation & Controls) to ensure a productive workforce that supports all divisional, departmental, Clean Energy Center (CEC) and corporate goals while in accordance with all company policies and local, state and federal regulations.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities
Effectively manage assigned staff (e.g. Hiring, Development, Compensation, Performance Evaluation, assist in ensuring Training Certification compliance, etc.) to ensure that all maintenance activities are performed safely and effectively by trained workers in accordance with CEC procedures, Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulations, and the CEC schedule.
Responsible for the planning and execution of all assigned maintenance activities during online, forced outages, refuel outages and unplanned power reductions for both internal and external personnel, which includes administration and oversight of all maintenance contract personnel.
Effectively communicate significant CEC and personnel issues to Maintenance Director and all applicable levels of CEC management. Fostering open communications and collaboration between all organizations internal and external to the CEC including Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) and regulatory agencies.
Effectively manage departmental training program to maximize CEC performance while complying with all CEC, corporate, local, state and federal regulations. Provide feedback and insights to CEC training department on Maintenance and Technical (M&T) training programs.
Ensure timely fulfillment of regulatory commitments assigned to division. Responsible for managing a continual assessment program that assures maintenance excellence in accordance with CEC, corporate and industry standards, practices and policies.
Participates in all aspects of Maintenance Department management to support safe and efficient operation of the CEC, including the development, implementation, and performance monitoring of all corporate, CEC, and divisional business goals and objectives.
Manage and monitor departmental resources and expenditures for all assigned work, including refuel outages, within the approved budget.
Ensures optimum performance and equipment reliability for assigned equipment through effective implementation of corrective, preventative and predictive programs and procedures that maximize the use of new technologies in coordination with the work planning process.

Primary Purpose of Position
Demonstrates mastery of skills and extensive subject matter knowledge in carrying out assignments associated with the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and modification of plant specific nuclear licensed operations training programs.
Primary Duties and Accountabilities
Drives the clean energy center (CEC) and personnel performance improvement through the use of training. Coordinates, and conducts performance-based operations Reactor Operator (RO)/Non-Licensed Operator (NLO) training programs as required by user community in accordance with Constellation's systematic approach to training model, department procedures, and with proper application of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation phases.
Assures the training programs are maintained current and incorporate information gained from Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) Significant Operating Experience Reports and Constellation Nuclear Event Reports (NERs), Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Bulletins and Information Notices, CEC design change and backfit information, CEC procedure changes and revisions, new regulations, and training effectiveness reports.
Prepares trainee examination and conducts trainee evaluations for classroom, laboratory, OJT, and simulator environments, as appropriate and conducts counseling sessions for trainees, evaluates the results, and recommends/develops individualized training programs.
Support CEC and fleet in the areas of business initiatives, project management, refuel outage support, emergency preparedness duties, and special projects.
Participates in NRC, INPO and management audits, and prepares responses to audit findings.
Maintains knowledge of plant operations, disciplinary skills and techniques, commensurate with the responsibility to develop and conduct effective, high-quality training.

Job Description
Responds to emergency scenes including, but is not limited to, fire, medical, bomb threats, flooding, sprinkler system discharge, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and numerous other types of incidents.
Arrives on scene, performs scene size up, and relays information to central dispatch center and on-duty supervisor of current situation and any immediate needs.
Performs rescue procedures to include, but is not limited to, vehicle extrication, machinery extrication, and high angle and low angle rescue.
Performs fire suppression efforts utilizing fire apparatus, hydrants, hose stations, and portable and wheeled fire extinguishers.
Responds to hazardous material emergencies and provides spill containment efforts for both small and large releases.
Responds to medical emergencies, initiates patient assessment and/or stabilization, prepares and transports patients to onsite medical clinic.
Relays patient care information to medical personnel to include, but is not limited to, patient information, medical history, vitals, and treatments.
Administers treatment of injuries and illnesses following established medical protocols and procedures at the emergency scene or in specialized response vehicle.
Performs triage duties during mass casualty incidents.
Provide standard security duties to include, but is not limited to, unlocking doors, escorts to visitors, guests, and team members, patrol buildings and parking lots, and report back to central dispatch center and on-duty supervisor any irregularities.
