Essential Functions + Responsibilities
• Resolve both technical and design problems and work collaboratively on all aspects of project execution
• Work independently as well as effectively communicate and collaborate with City and McAdams staff methodology and approach for projects.
• Designers are expected to complete (design complete/ready for construction) multiple minor projects per year. This requires flexibility and multitasking of multiple projects at one time.
• Compose comprehensive technical reports related to existing conditions analysis and proposed recommendations.

Position Profile
This position is an entry-level position geared for professional learning, growth, and increasing responsibility for master planning, permitting, design, and construction-related services for water resources projects for roadway, railroad, aviation, and industrial projects.
Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling on a variety of projects ranging from simple roadways and site developments to large scale urban flood control projects. Plan, design and procure permitting for levees, dams, reservoirs, bridges and culverts. Assist in project activities such as storm water management, field inspections, floodplain modeling, scour analysis, erosion protection, stream restoration, unsteady flow modeling, 2-D modeling, floodway construction permitting, FEMA permitting and preparation of technical reports. Collaborate with Senior Technical staff Prepare calculations, quantity take-offs, and opinions of probable construction costs Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Training:
* A bachelor's degree in the engineering field is required. Additional course work in water resources is desirable.
* E.I.T. is desirable.
* Master's degree is desirable.
Technical Skills:
* Proficient with the following software programs is desirable: HEC-RAS (1D & 2D), HEC-HMS, TR-55, HY8, XP-SWMM, EPA-SWMM, Flo-2D, SMS, SRH-2D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and ArcGIS
Soft Skills:
* The candidate must be able to work as a team member and independently, have the desire to learn new skills, be self-motivated, and possess excellent interpersonal communication skills
