Job Description
Position Summary:
Wonderful Orchards is seeking an Accounts Payable Manager to support our Shafter, CA corporate operations. This position oversees the financial transactions of an organization, managing the payables functions. This position will report to the Senior Accounting Manager and responsibilities include supervising the AP teams, ensuring accurate timely processing of invoices, and coordinating with vendors. The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for maintaining financial records, resolving discrepancies, and implementing efficient processes to optimize cash flow. Strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles are essential for success in this role. The position requires the ability to work independently and multi-task while meeting deadlines. This is a hands-on management position that is directly responsible for all AP functions and will require active participation in the processes.

Manages the AP functions to ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
Reviews and evaluate the AP registers to validate charges and ensure timely and accurate payments.
Designs and implements standards policies and procedures to ensure accurate and compliant financial records.
Audits methods and procedures of the accounts payable and receivable functions to improve efficiency.
Manages a staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs.
Manage the monthly closing process and ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
Assist with coordinating the external annual audit including the preparation of various audit schedules related to the department.
Responsible for monthly account reconciliations as needed.
Work closely with sister companies to ensure monthly and quarterly AP balance confirmations are aligned.
Participate in process improvement projects.
Work with accounting team to develop and implement best practices related to accounting process and controls.
Responsible for ad-hoc requests related to the accounting team.
Mentor and develop staff and strengthen the AP accounting team at Wonderful Orchards.
Review and approve all AP processes and develop improvements for policies, procedures, and processes. Work with internal groups on automation were deemed appropriate.
Responsible for annual 1099 process and filings with IRS
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university majoring in accounting
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
5+ years of supervisory experience in the financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable areas or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Extensive knowledge of related functions and departmental processes.
Public accounting experience preferred but not required.
Strong analytical skills and knowledge of financial reporting processes.
Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal and proven interpersonal skills essential.
Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
Experience with ERP systems and consolidation software, experience with Oracle EBS a plus.
Knowledge of database reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI preferred.
Experience in handling multiple entities with complex intercompany transactions, eliminations, and consolidations.

Reporting to join our corporate team in Shafter, CA. This is a key leadership role for a seasoned

Reporting directly to the Controller, this position will lead the financial reporting function,
ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of key financial information. We're looking for

What you will need:
Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences or related field, required.
Valid California Agricultural Pest Control Adviser (PCA) License, required.
Thorough knowledge of agricultural pests and their control in organic and conventional systems, required.
Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software and ability to learn internal record keeping and data collection software.
Attention to detail, thoroughness, and good analytical skills are a must.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
Seasonal overnight travel required. Estimated at 40% during Fall and Winter months.
Must have a valid Driver's License with a clean DMV driving record.
Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen, physical and functional capacity evaluation.
