We are currently seeking Manufacturing Specials Inspectors for our X-Cel Specialty Contact Lens Division located in Duluth, GA. on first and second shift. X-Cel is a leading manufacturer and distributor of contact lenses; providing Eye Care Professionals with superior products and services. This is an excellent opportunity to join our team!

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: Responsible for overall specialty lens production processes including quality and manufacturing of all lenses for highly regulated products and environment, including 21 CFR 820 and ISO 13485. Employee performs in-process and final inspections to confirm compliance to customer specifications and performs root cause analysis and performs corrective actions on any issues found.
LEVEL OF EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE OR SKILL SET:

Position requires high school diploma, GED or work experience commensurate with position requirements, two years of specialty lens manufacturing, or a combination of other production experience and education. Individual must be organized and detail-oriented, and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Individual must be able to communicate verbally and in written form, understand and use electronic inspection equipment, and maintain accurate documentation and compliance within a highly regulated ISO13485 and 21 CFR 820 environment.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

+ Apply professional principles and judgement by using standard operating procedures and work instructions and make tactical decisions regarding acceptability or failure of all lenses to meet specifications. Individual must demonstrate ability to interpret customers' Rx requirements and have total understanding of the production work ticket as produced via lab software/operating system. Perform and demonstrate excellent skills in reading of a Lensometer and/or additional electronic inspection instrumentation, and interpreting results and findings.

+ Individual has complete knowledge of all parameters and specifications possible based on various product designs. These parameters include surface quality and finishing activities, production tasks and experienced in recognizing and affecting a "First-Quality" Rx respective of product, and manufacture and inspection of specialty lenses including corneal and scleral gas permeable, and custom soft designs, as well as application of plasma treatment and other specialty coatings.

+ Has complete understanding of special or unique requirements of specific laboratory customers respective of product to be delivered, including ability to read and understand customer orders and invoices, entering data into the computer system, and assisting other staff with administrative/clerical duties when needed. Individual must conduct troubleshooting of any errors found, and perform root cause analysis and corrective actions as required.

+ Run all manufacturing equipment and observe machines for proper function. Must use judgment and recognize any out of compliance conditions and notify maintenance or management of any potential errors.

+ Responsible for maintaining daily quotas

+ Maintains work area in a neat, clean, and organized condition.

+ Understands and follows all company policies and procedures and assures compliance of all attendance and safety rules and regulations. Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and HIPAA protected information.

+ Willingly assists others as necessary to keep work current, meet deadlines or maintain even work load. Cooperates with other coworkers and demonstrates a good attitude. Performs an acceptable quantity and quality of work on time as required.

+ Provides proper training, work direction, and technical guidance for less experienced coworkers. Attends in-house or Walman sponsored training meetings when necessary.

+ Performs other duties as assigned.

The Chemical Sciences and Engineering Division is seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to mainly conduct research to develop long-life and safe layered oxide cathode materials for electrochemical energy storage systems under the guidance of a supervisor. The project involves physical, chemical, and electrochemical characterization of layered oxide cathodes using various characterization technologies. The candidate will establish the relationship between the physical/chemical properties and electrochemical performance of the layered oxide cathodes. The candidate will also conduct novel characterization of these materials using advanced x-ray synchrotron measurements. Provides an understanding of the mechanisms of operation and possible methods for improvements of advanced electrochemical cells, including lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries. The candidate should be able to analyze data, prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed publications, present papers at scientific meetings, and prepare reports and presentations/papers for group meetings.
**Position Requirements**

+ Successful candidate will have recently completed Ph. D Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or Electrochemistry with 0 to 3 years of experience or equivalent

+ Skills in different synthetic techniques (co-precipitation, solid state reaction ...) used to produce layered oxide cathode materials and compounds.

+ Deep understanding of electrochemistry, able to conduct the cyclic voltammetry, EIS, and galvanostatic test of half/full cells.

+ Knowledge of synchrotron-based X-ray techniques (such as x-ray diffraction and spectroscopy) for in situ studies of Materials/Interfacial chemistry during synthesis and high temperature, high-voltage, or high rate operation.

+ Considerable skill in the characterization on the thermal stability of cathode materials (such as TGA, ARC, TGA-MS...) and safety of battery pack.

+ Good knowledge and good skill and understanding to provide novel solutions to electrochemical issues from other areas of materials research, oxides, composites, and electrochemical interfaces.

+ Knowledge of processing and analyzing results.

+ Strong oral and written communication skills and good record of publication and external recognition in relevant areas
