About the JobAs our Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will sustain and improve the operations of our proprietary lithium-ion battery recycling processes. As our Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will support and enhance the operations of our proprietary lithium-ion battery recycling processes. This individual will work closely with our engineering team and a variety of internal and external experts to ensure the effective functioning of our facility. The ideal candidate will possess a history of process enhancement, problem-solving skills, and a capability to improve methodologies in a unique process system. This role involves consistently assessing existing processing steps and recommending and developing advanced solutions to perpetually enhance system performance and operability. This position will report to the Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities Hamilton Company is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join the Machine Shop team. They will perform support tasks associated with manufacturing new and existing products. These products are manufactured on a variety of CNC machining work centers including Swiss lathes, horizontal and vertical machine centers, 5-axis mills and mill-turns. Responsibilities include: Employee responsibilities and duties: Accountable for regular and consistent attendance. Contribute to continuous improvement activities. Adequate and timely completion of assigned tasks. Daily communication and documentation using Microsoft Office products. Maintain area and equipment cleanliness/organization. Manufacturing Engineer responsibilities and duties Complete documentation regarding support tickets, task completions and work instructions. Interface with supervisors/leads regarding troubleshooting and production support. Develop relationships with shop personnel and an understanding of interdepartmental processes to provide work center support. Plan and execute production improvements. Investigate new processes and improvement implementations. Procure equipment and resources needed for improvements and implementations. Justify resources, equipment and processes. Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors regarding modification or installation of machinery and utilities. Provide quality determinations and possible solutions. Create and track Engineering Change Orders, Manufacturing Quality Alerts and Noncompliance Reports. Make adjustments to prints regarding dimensional changes, costs and manufacturability. Provide work holding improvement for new or existing products. Interface with programming regarding improvement opportunities. Estimate part manufacturing cost based on machine shop capability, material and outside processes. Provide insight for R&D engineers on shop capabilities and repeatability to reduce costs and improve practices for new and existing parts. Qualifications A team player who collaborates. Familiar with individual machine safety features/dangers. Must possess competent verbal and written communication skills as required to interface with other departments and company personnel. Must demonstrate proficient computer literacy. Must be adaptable to changing work environment, competing demands and able to deal with frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events. Must demonstrate excellent troubleshooting techniques and critical thinking skills. Competent in maintaining databases or archives. Must be able to read drawings and specifications with a proficient understanding of GD&T. Understands how to properly inspect parts based off specified dimensions and tolerances. Knowledgeable of common manufacturing practices. Proficient using CAD software to design and model fixtures, parts and tooling. Familiar with ISO, LEAN and Six Sigma manufacturing practices. Education/Experience BS in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or related engineering required. 0-3 years of experience with various types of machining and manufacturing or other related industry. This position will report to the Director of Engineering. Requirements Understand process capability of the battery recycling system through data analysis and in-depth knowledge of the process. Utilize process improvement techniques (Lean, Six Sigma, SPC etc.) to further improve battery recycling process. Define system and equipment alarms using Statistical Process Control techniques to notify and/or shut down equipment during out-of-control events. Troubleshoot down equipment and implement solutions to address root cause (Conveyors, Motors, Pumps, Valves etc.). Support specification of a factory MES system. Support integration, commissioning and troubleshooting of MES system to ensure product meets company needs. Develop clear data collection, analysis and visualization tools using software such as MySQL, Python, Minitab, JMP, Tableau and Ignition. Keep document records for the equipment system up to date (e.g., Equipment Data, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams, Controls Narratives, and Wiring Diagrams) Support commissioning activities of future expansion plans for our first-in-kind battery recycling process. Qualifications Background in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical or Industrial preferred) 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with troubleshooting and commissioning first-in-kind manufacturing lines. Experience with MES systems, preferably integration of MES systems. Experience implementing data-driven improvements to operational lines (DOE, Change Management). Experience in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma. Working knowledge Autodesk Software: Revit, AutoCAD and/or Navisworks. Ability to positively collaborate in a team environment.
