Find a Job You Really Want In

GameStop is the world’s largest video game retailer, but recently the company has been making news for sky-rocketing stocks and panicking investors.

While the company is headquartered in the Dallas suburbs, GameStop is the world’s largest video game retailer. Over 5,500 retail stores are open selling games in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe.

The store employs over 53,000 employees, with the majority working part-time. While many GameStops were in danger of closing (taking valuable jobs with them), the companies’ changing fortunes might mean better job stability for workers.

Where are the most GameStops? (And by extension GameStop jobs?) Using data from Scrapehero, we found the places with the most GameStops.

Cities With The Most GameStops

  1. San Antonio, Texas
  2. Houston, Texas
  3. Miami, Florida
  4. Brooklyn, New York
  5. Las Vegas, Nevada
  6. Orlando, Florida
  7. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  8. El Paso, Texas

  10. Chicago, Illinois

Unsurprisingly, many of these locations are in GameStop’s home state of Texas, which has 347 locations. None are in California where the 323 stores are spread thinner.

San Antonio has more GameStops than any other place in the world. San Antonia may punier than Houston, but not when it comes to needing brick and mortar stores to buy their video game of choice.

2. Houston, Texas

In 2nd place is Houston, Texas, 1 whole Game Stop less than San Antonio. While that number may not feel super significant, keep in mind Houston has a million more resident than San Antonio. Talk about register lines.

Who need deep dish pizza and millennium park when you can be deep in the video game of your choice?

What this means

Store locations need workers. If you have a love for games and passion for customer service, you might want to explore a job at GameStop. You can see open GameStop jobs, salaries, and what it takes to get a job where you can explain to people why the PS5 is superior to the new Xbox.

All that being said, does this mean our game trade-ins are worth more now? Just asking for a friend.
