How We Analyzed Stress in Florida

To gauge stress levels across Florida, we identified six key factors that contribute to stress for residents. We examined 215 cities with populations over 5,000, using data from the latest American Community Surveys:

  1. Percentage of residents with long commutes (over 30 minutes)
  2. Unemployment Rate
  3. Average hours worked per week
  4. Population density
  5. Percentage of income spent on housing
  6. Percentage of uninsured individuals

Higher values in these areas indicate greater levels of stress. Each city was ranked from 1 to 215 based on these criteria, and the average scores were used to calculate a Stress Score, with lower scores reflecting higher stress levels.
