Job Description A shop hourly position with the primary responsibilities of assembling a wide variety of mechanical units at workstations from engineered drawings and blueprints using standard work for assembly. Check for porosity, torn threads, bad paint, missing features etc. Per instructions from your routings, drawings, lead person or supervisor. Lubricate all indicated threaded areas. Remove nonconforming or questionable material to designated areas until a determination can be made. Communicate any problems your having with the assembly ( i. E., bad parts, equipment, fixtures, tools, drawings or unclear work instructions) to your lead person, supervisor or inspector for corrective action. Clear your work area and put all consumable parts in their place after completing each work order. Return special tools, equipment and drawings to where they belong. Use down time constructively: fill your bins with consumable parts, clean your area and be prepared for your next work order or instructions.

Includes assembly of individual parts and components. SHIFT First: Monday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. with occasional overtime. RESPONSIBILITIES Assembly * Receive pre-determined work order and parts from Lead Person or Supervisor. * Check to ensure that parts received are correct and in good condition and report bad or questionable parts to appropriate Supervisor. * Pre-assemble individual parts for assigned saws or trowels as needed, including wiring such items as engines, motors and switchboxes, and assembling engine components, water pumps, blade shafts and blade guards, front and rear axles, transmissions, cutting heads and other assemblies. * Use hand tools, and pneumatic tools to assemble components into completed saws. Includes processes such (but not limited to) as sanding, oiling, measuring, bolting, wiring, aligning, tightening, and torqueing. Ability to read blueprints and follow documented and written instructions. * Finish and touch-up completed saws and apply serial number decals. May include painting. Quality * Perform test run on completed saws to be sure they're in proper running condition. * By use of a checklist, complete inspection paperwork and notify appropriate Supervisor of need for final inspection. * Crate or box completed saws for shipment, insert appropriate literature and tools, and prepare for pick-up. * Clean up and maintain tools and work area on a daily basis. Report need for tool repair to Supervisor. * Maintain high-quality standards on all assembled parts by making sure parts fit and go together properly, machine is in good working condition, and paint finished and touched up, if needed. * Expected to make suggestions for changing/improving procedures and specifications. * Observe sound safety procedures at all times and to notify supervisor of safety or ergonomic issues. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE * At least 1-2 years' Mechanical Assembly experience * Some automotive, engine build/repair or shop experience helpful * Working knowledge of following verbal and written work instructions * Ability to stand for long periods of time * Must be able to hold pneumatic tools that create vibration for short durations. * Must have mechanical aptitude, a working knowledge of hand tools, and the ability to learn a limited number of more specialized processes such as those involving electrical wiring. * Must be detail-oriented, accurate and able to follow directions, both verbal and written. Job Description A shop hourly position with the primary responsibilities of assembling a wide variety of mechanical units at workstations from engineered drawings and blueprints using standard work for assembly. As an experienced mechanic, the Mechanic II has a high level of proficiency in assembling a wide variety of mechanical units and is competent to work independently in the majority of functions. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Accurately assemble BAC product in accordance with engineered drawings and standard work instructions. Owns personal and team safety. Observes all safety rules and uses the proper safety equipment at all times. Utilize standard work to assemble mechanical support assemblies to specification. Perform functions in a majority of assembly line stations, with the exception of welding and work centers Operate equipment in a manner that maximizes productivity and quality. Safely operate JIB cranes to lift, move, and position components. Help assist and train junior mechanics. NATURE & SCOPE Reports to Team Leader, Station Leader or senior mechanic as assigned. Work is primarily related to home department but may be flexed to other departments as order demand dictates. May be assigned the training and mentoring of junior mechanics. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS Demonstrated competent writing skills including the ability to document a process in a logical and coherent manner. Ability to communicate to supervisors and co-workers with written memos or email that are professional, concise and clearly understood. Working command of the English language, both written and spoken. Demonstrated oral communication skills including the ability to communicate professionally with BAC customer and co-workers. The ability to share information verbally that is clearly understood and technically accurate Demonstrated intermediate level knowledge of the plant IPI process and CAP program. Competent in math including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractional computations, and fraction to decimal conversions. Good overall knowledge of the variety of BAC products. Demonstrated ability to operate JIB cranes; achieved through required certification. Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and shop paperwork. Demonstrated competence in locating and following BAC shop paperwork. Must be flexible and able to adapt quickly to change. Demonstrated knowledge on knock downs, packing and crating procedures. Able to flex to other assembly lines with minimal training and supervision. Understanding of elementary and intermediate LEAN principles including 5S, Kanban, one piece flow, and basic continuous improvement techniques. Familiar with all appropriate procedures, policies, and standard work instructions for their area. Demonstrated competence in BAC quality procedures and processes to follow when a quality issue is identified Computer skills include competence in locating relevant instructions and forms on the LAN or other databases WORKING CONDITIONS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Working hours can include any of three shifts and generally are scheduled for forty hours a week. Some weekend overtime is to be expected.
