Conducts investigations into illegal activities; interviews suspects to identify additional parties involved in the activity.

Works with specialized canine to detect drugs, conduct searches, control suspects, provide crowd control, or provide protection; trains and handles dogs.

Performs data entry functions by keying data into computer system; enters/updates data pertaining to status of warrants in computer system.
Processes bond information for release of suspects.
Assignment to Courthouse Security function may include performance of the following additional duties:Provides courtroom security; maintains a security presence in the courtroom to ensure safety of court personnel, to identify/prevent disturbances of court proceedings, and to identify/prevent potential violence or use of weapons.
Conducts security checks of courthouse offices, judges' chambers, parking lots, or other areas of courthouse.
Performs electronic and visual security screening of jurors, spectators, or other individuals.
Assists detention officers with security/management of inmates in court; secures and detains new prisoners.
Assignment to School Resource Officer (WAVE Program-Weapons and Violence Education) function may include performance of the following additional duties:Provides WAVE Program education to community youth; conducts structured classes regarding violence, guns, drugs, prisons, gangs, death, juvenile court, adult court, conflict resolution, benefits of education, and related subjects.
Provides counseling to students with behavioral problems; visits students' homes to talk with students and parents.

Position Summary

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs various duties in law enforcement including patrolling, investigating crimes, securing courtrooms during proceedings, maintaining security over offenders, and assuring all laws of the county and state are carried out in an efficient and effective manner. Lake Patrol officers will insure the safety of boat operators, enforce the Georgia Safe Boating Act and protect property along the waterways of Hall County. Lake Patrol Officers will enforce State laws, County ordinances, and strive to keep Hall County waterways safe. Officers assigned to Lake Patrol should have operational knowledge of boats, navigational knowledge of Lake Lanier as well as knowledge of boating and boater safety laws.

K-9 Officers paired with dogs must work them in a variety of scenarios, such as searching for explosives, chemicals and other illegal substances. They are also responsible for finding and rescuing individuals that are missing, along with tracking and apprehending fugitives.
Officers paired with dogs must train them extensively and work and work with them in a variety of scenarios. Handlers must make sure their dogs are obedient and follow commands both on and off of the leash, and that they are capable of performing a building search, as well as a search for lost and missing persons and felons. WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed in both inside and outside working conditions in all types of weather from extremes of cold and heat to rain/snow/ice. Employees may be exposed to noise which would cause the worker to shout to be heard above the ambient noise level; hazards including proximity to moving equipment; and atmospheric conditions which may affect the respiratory system. Work environment often includes persons with criminal records with little to no respect for law enforcement.
