The Pipe Layer is responsible for preparing and laying pipe for storm drains, sanitary sewers, waterlines, and other types of pipelines. The Pipe Layer ensures that trenches are properly excavated, shored, and prepared for pipeline installation. The Pipe Layer grades and levels trench foundations, aligns and positions pipes, and checks pipe slopes using levels or lasers to ensure they conform to specifications. The Pipe Layer also ensures that trenches are bedded and backfilled properly so pipe isn't out of round and installs pipes that are on grade and airtight as required. The Pipe Layer supports the Foreman in monitoring progress, ensuring work is completed safely, and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities
Advanced knowledge of equipment, and setup, of lasers, transits, grade rods, and line levels.
Vast knowledge of differing types of soils, and shoring techniques. As well as following the OSHA rules and guidelines for trenching and sloping.
Advanced understanding of survey stakes. E.G. cuts, fills, and elevations
Lay out pipe routes using blueprints, and coordinate with Foreman
Be able to set the pipe laser up in the manhole and establish line.
Enter the proposed slope in the laser.
Understand tenths and how to read grade rod
24 months construction experience
Able to use logic, reason, and math as needed for the job
Ability to generate efficient methods quickly to resolve roadblocks
Ability to adapt to differing soil types and conditions
Can install good pipe on shallow grades without rework in decent ground, and minimal water
Can install structures that are oversized.

An Asphalt Distributor Operator typically performs a wide variety of tasks, transferring from one task to another as the work flow dictates. An Asphalt Distributor Operator consists of operating an asphalt distributor by applying specialize emulsions and/or liquid AC to roadways.
Key Duties
* Understand and execute paving procedures while following instructions to meet the standards of the project
* Commercial Driver License (CDL) A or B with N-tanker & X-hazmat endorsement as well as an acceptable driving record
* Drives and operates distributor truck equipped with tank to spray asphalt emulsions and/or liquid AC on road surfaces
* Connects hose from storage tank to truck tank and moves lever to fill tank with asphalt liquids
* Regulate burner to heat liquid and start auxiliary pump
* Snap or screw on spray bars to attain required width of spray
* Turn valve to regulate flow of material at specified rate and adjust levers to adjust height of spray bar from road surface
* Monitor flow gages, tachometer and temperature gauge to insure uniform distribution
* Perform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections for leaks and damage to machine before operation

The Quality Control Asphalt Mix Design Technician will work under the direction of the Quality Control Manager in the formulation and implementation of asphalt mix designs/job mix formulas at the asphalt plants.
Key Duties
* Follow the directions and instructions of the Quality Control Manager.
* Conduct sampling and testing in accordance with applicable SCDOT, AASHTO, and ASTM standards.
* Perform daily equipment verifications as instructed by the Quality Control Manager.
* Perform or assist in performing all necessary equipment calibrations as directed by the Quality Control Manager.
* Testing of samples in accordance with applicable specifications, QC Plan and Quality Management System requirements.
* Care and maintenance of all laboratory equipment and inventory.
* Keeping the laboratory in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
* Accurate reporting of test results on their proper forms.
* Completion of all documentation used to report test results (i.e. - worksheets, sample and test logs, Certificate of Analysis, etc.).
* Disposal of waste material upon completion of testing.
* Assist plant personnel during batch production as necessary to insure product quality control objectives are met (process control testing).
* Communicating batch test results and certifications to plant personnel
* Assist the Quality Control Manager in meeting compliance reporting requirements timelines as outlined in the QC plans and Quality Management System.
* Assist other technicians and employees as needed
* Attend and complete training as required (company, certification, etc.).
* Other activities as assigned by the quality control manager
Qualification Requirements

PIPE LAYER
The Pipe Layer is responsible for preparing and laying pipe for storm drains, sanitary sewers, waterlines, and other types of pipelines. The Pipe Layer ensures that trenches are properly excavated, shored, and prepared for pipeline installation. The Pipe Layer grades and levels trench foundations, aligns and positions pipes, and checks pipe slopes using levels or lasers to ensure they conform to specifications. The Pipe Layer also ensures that trenches are bedded and backfilled properly so pipe isnt out of round and installs pipes that are on grade and airtight as required. The Pipe Layer supports the Foreman in monitoring progress, ensuring work is completed safely, and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities
Advanced knowledge of equipment, and setup, of lasers, transits, grade rods, and line levels.
Vast knowledge of differing types of soils, and shoring techniques. As well as following the OSHA rules and guidelines for trenching and sloping.
Advanced understanding of survey stakes. E.G. cuts, fills, and elevations
Lay out pipe routes using blueprints, and coordinate with Foreman
Be able to set the pipe laser up in the manhole and establish line.
Enter the proposed slope in the laser.
Understand tenths and how to read grade rod
24 months construction experience
Able to use logic, reason, and math as needed for the job
Ability to generate efficient methods quickly to resolve roadblocks
Ability to adapt to differing soil types and conditions
Can install good pipe on shallow grades without rework in decent ground, and minimal water
Can install structures that are oversized.

o Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day. Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Key Duties.
o Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50 pounds personally, and up
to 150 pounds with assistance.
o Manual dexterity to hand-carry generators, construction materials, forms, power
tools, and hand tools.
o Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the
construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors,
the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment.
o Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather
conditions.

General Description. Responsible for the operation of various smooth drum or rubber tire roller(s), in order to compact and/or smooth asphalt surfaces, during asphalt laydown operations. Beaufort/Ridgeland * Safely operates roller to achieve identified asphalt and roadway surface compaction requirements, as defined by the contract/owner specifications
* Determines speed and direction of roller, based on compaction specifications; typically at the direction and under the guidance of the Asphalt Laydown Foreman and/or Superintendent.
* Works closely with other crew members using hand signals and verbal communication, to coordinate work and ensure safety.
* Maintains visual contact, with those working around equipment, at all times; to ensure safe proximity from obstacles and or workers on foot.
* Performs daily roller inspection and identifies maintenance concerns to their supervisor and/or equipment, to ensure that roller is in safe, proper working.
* Other duties, may be assigned, based on specific job necessity.
Qualification Requirements

* Education and Experience. Asphalt Roller Operator may be considered as entry level, depending on prior work experience, however construction related industry experience, is preferred.
* A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) and/or professional work experience, required.
* Preferential consideration, for Heavy Highway, Roadway, Asphalt Paving work experience.
* Must be able to understand work directions and communicate effectively with job site supervisors and fellow employees.

* Frequent ability to sit for prolonged periods of time, with intermittent breaks throughout a shift.
* Infrequent, ability to stand and/or walk on smooth asphalt surface.
* Intermittent, ability to use 3 points of contact, to climb/step up 1-4 roller steps/rungs spaced
* Intermittent, ability to turn head to look over shoulder while backing.
* Frequent ability to grip and hold steering wheel and/or operate hand controls.
* Frequent ability to work in various weather and temperature conditions.
* Frequent ability to wear a lap seat belt.
* Infrequent ability to work in environments that may require hearing protection (over 85 decibels).
* Frequent ability to work near heavy equipment and moving machinery.
* Frequent ability to communicate effectively with co-workers about job tasks and hazards and to relay rescue information to emergency responders if required.
* Ability to be cleared to wear a respirator.
