Central EMS company history timeline
CEMS began as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in March of 1980 through a joint effort between Washington Regional Medical Center and Washington County.
With nearly 20 years’ experience in the health care and EMS fields, Corey Thomas began his career as a certified paramedic in 1999.
In 2004, the company expanded to include Central Air Ambulance and was rebranded Central EMS. Today, Central EMS transports approximately 50,000 patients annually with more than 100 vehicles in our fleet.
Melton began her healthcare career with Central EMS in 2006.
On January 1, 2009 the Washington County Regional Ambulance Authority was formed and became the organizational structure for Central EMS.
Thomas was a member of the inaugural class of the Priority Ambulance Leadership Foundation’s EMS Leadership of Tomorrow in 2019, completing a year-long, intensive executive training program designed to foster the next generation of EMS leaders and entrepreneurs.
