Serves as a backup to the Staff Chaplains and Resident Chaplains as needed to maintain 24/7 Spiritual Care department staffing and hospital coverage. Triages and manages multiple requests effectively. Engages in evidence informed, spiritual assessment. Develops, documents, and implements a plan of care which may include connecting care recipient(s) with appropriate community resources. Partners with community clergy concerning patient and family religious needs. Promotes patient safety by reporting safety issues through established channels and participating in safety initiatives. Identifies issues related to medical ethics and refers to available resources for assistance in follow up and resolution. Engages in regular, purposeful rounding. Partners with interdisciplinary staff, Patient Experience staff, and Employee Support Coordinators so as to promote excellent patient, family, and staff care. Assists patients and families with Advance Care Planning, completing Advance Directives such as Power of Attorney for Healthcare, and documenting them in the electronic health record. Participates in the life and work of the South Region Spiritual Care Department to ensure integrated, effective services. Works shifts to support 24 hour per day coverage, including weekends, overnights, and holidays. Participates in staff meetings and regular professional development activities. Documents and reports on spiritual care visits as required. Participates in hospital or regional wide activities and events. Adheres to the Code of Ethics of APC or NACC or NAJC. Adheres to departmental and hospital safety standards in order to maintain a safe patient care and working environment. Attends all mandatory in-service safety programs. Maintains a collaborative, collegial relationship with the South Region Spiritual Care Manager, ACPE Educator, department residents, and staff. Requires light physical effort. May require frequent- periods of standing or walking. May require frequent lifting or moving of lightweight material, and occasional moving or lifting of average-weight material. Flow of work and character of duties involves part normal and part concentrated attention. Personal Qualifications: The interpersonal and empathetic skills/abilities necessary to effectively support patients, families, and employees, in a variety of situations and settings. The analytic and communication ability to assess patients' spiritual needs and sense of well-being, identify appropriate resources, and communicate both verbally and via written documentation, a plan of care.     Under the general supervision of the Corrections Program Supervisor, the professional DOC Chaplain is responsible for development, administration and oversight of congregate religious programming and spiritual care for persons of all creeds/faiths/religions residing in minimum-, medium-, and maximum-security correctional facilities. Program delivery will be accomplished primarily through recruitment, training, scheduling and supervision of community volunteers to provide direct activities, such as worship services, religious study groups, spiritual care and special events. DOC Chaplains apply principles of pluralism, and ensure all Umbrella Religion Groups (URGs) and individuals are treated fairly and equitably in accommodations and distribution of facility resources. In coordination with facility leadership, the Chaplain will integrate religious accommodations within the institution's overall rehabilitation/treatment objectives; provide staff education/training on principles of religious pluralism, grief, moral injury, forgiveness, etc.; and participate on committees as assigned. The position serves as liaison between the Institution and faith-based community organizations. Chaplains also manage religious literature and dietary accommodations, and maintain relevant public records. The Chaplain may directly or indirectly plan and oversee religious ceremonies and faith-based education in the absence of community volunteers. This position may or may not directly facilitate services and study groups within their own religious tradition, depending upon population needs and facility resources. Salary Information This position is in pay schedule and range 12-64 with a starting pay of $27.00/hour - $34.34/hour. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.
