The Rockville Swim and Fitness Center is seeking a dynamic, skilled and customer oriented Personal Trainer to assume duties in providing one on and one and group fitness training to facility customers. This part-time (non-benefits eligible) position is anticipated to work 5-30 hours per week between a combination of personal training, group exercise classes and floor training assignments. Growth potential up to 30 hours per week exists based on client demand. See below for pay rates associated with each assignment. The successful candidate must be available for a flexible work schedule. * Promotes the personal training department by assisting members in the fitness center and conducting consultations for prospective clients
* Plans for and performs safe and effective training sessions with clients in accordance with current trends in Exercise Science and RSFC protocol, with tasks including but not limited to:
* Demonstrating exercises and routines to clients.
* Assisting clients in exercises to minimize injury and promote fitness.
* Modify exercises according to clients' fitness levels.
* Monitoring and document client progress.
* Motivate and encourage clients through the training process.
* Providing information or resources on general fitness and health issues.
* Attends staff training, completes administrative duties and paperwork as required.
* Enforces the rules and regulations of the fitness center and provides general customer service.
* Responsible for maintaining a safe environment and performing minor maintenance and repairs to fitness equipment and surrounding areas. Provide emergency first aid if necessary.
* Teaches group fitness classes (a minimum of one class per week) in accordance with
established course descriptions and/or curriculum.
* May function as a mentor to less experienced staff and is able to teach specialized courses as directed by the supervisor.
* Helps with planning and implementing programs; assists with class area set-up and clean-up and facility maintenance.
* On an as needed basis, conducts research on physical fitness trends, new program opportunities and training protocols.
* Work a minimum of two and a maximum of ten floor hours per week, as scheduled by the Supervisor.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Must hold a nationally accredited Personal Training certification (ACSM, NSCA, NASM, AFAA, or ACE preferred) and have a current CPR/AED and First Aid certification. Additional certifications or degrees in the field of Exercise Science are recommended. Knowledge of Microsoft Office a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
Comprehensive knowledge of instructing one on one personal training and group physical fitness programs. Experience working with a variety of client populations and/or in a similar facility is preferred.
* Personal Trainer I: Six months experience as a Personal Trainer and/or Group Fitness Instructor preferred.
* Personal Trainer II: A minimum of two years 'experience as a personal trainer with experience training special populations.
EDUCATION:
High school graduate or above. Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Sports Medicine or another related field preferred for Personal Trainer II.
COMPENSATION HIRING RANGES:
Personal Training Sessions: $30.00-$42.00 per hour
Group Fitness Instruction: $25.00-$42.00 per hour
Fitness Room Attendant and Administrative Time: $17.65 per hour

* Inspects and maintains water storage tanks, fences and cleans the yard when necessary.
* Determines the locations of gas, telephone, power, television, water and sewer lines from the appropriate sources prior to excavation.
* Responds to complaints regarding water leaks, pressure loss or no water or sewer stoppages; evaluates situations and explains findings to supervisor.
* May contact residents and business owners in the area where services will be affected by work of utility crew.
* Cuts, fits, lays, repairs, taps, cleans and flushes water mains, pipes, various valves and fittings on repair of mains and services and installation of mains/services.
* Replaces defective meters.
* Assists in the set-up of sediment control devices.
* Follows and enforces recommended safety practices and uses appropriate traffic safety devices such as cones, arrow boards and flagging signs, atmosphere tests and other confined space entry equipment.
* Operates and maintains equipment such as jackhammer, chipper, chain saw, and other hand tools, etc.
* Assists with the installation of trench shoring devices.
* Take the lead in rodding, cleaning, flushing and televising sewer mains.
* Cleans properties where there has been a sewer back-up.
* Operates power and hand tools as needed to accomplish the work.
* Performs emergency inspections and repairs such as snow/ice removal, storm clean-up, street repair, pipe repair, etc.
* Assists and fills in for other utilities workers when necessary.
* May perform snow removal.
* Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position applicants must demonstrate possession of all the training, experience and required licenses, as a well as demonstrate a practical knowledge, skills and abilities that would allow the applicant to perform this job in a successful manner. This will be determined through review of the formal application, rating of education and experience, and where appropriate, the interview, reference and background checks, and may include job related skills assessment. Graduation from high school or any combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to a high school diploma. Two years of experience in labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a utilities crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying pipe and backfilling. Must possess a valid state commercial driver's license (CDL) with required endorsements. This entry level position will provide new employees the opportunity to learn and grow with Frederick County Government. As additional experience is gained, employees can expect to progress through the multiple Technician levels FCG offers. Gaining direct experience with FCG and earning an education related to this field of employment, supports the successful employee for advancement to the County's Engineer series.
NOTE: The upper pay range reflects possible wage rates for internal County transfers and promotions, which are calculated per County policy. For external hires, offers are made at the base wage rate, with limited exception.

* Review of preliminary plans of commercial sites and subdivisions for water and sewer service availability and adequacy
* Review water and sewer construction plans for conformance with various County and Division standards and requirements
* Review easements for record plats of subdivisions and offsite construction of water and sewer infrastructure
* Assist with selection and sizing of water meters
* Assist or coordinate the permitting process through the MD Department of the Environment, MD State Highway Administration, CSX railroad, other utilities, etc.
* Make on-site visits of existing and proposed water/wastewater construction sites as needed
* Review and coordinate construction contract packages for completeness of plans, easements, lot numbering, etc.
* Assign and manage new water and sewer project (contract) numbers; post to masters list
* Coordinate with in-house construction inspection staff to resolve questions that arise during construction
* Respond to questions from developers, contractors, consulting engineers, surveyors, etc. on the status of projects
* Coordinate establishment of new construction operational acceptance with billing and other appropriate agencies
* Assist with management of small developer funded projects
* Work with other County staff and departments to coordinate various information
* Perform other related duties as required

ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN I ($27.50 - $44.01 per hour)
* High school graduation or the equivalent
* Minimum 2 years work experience in technical review of construction documents associated with civil/site development
* Possession of a valid automobile operator's license
* NOTE: A combination of related education and/or work experience may be considered towards the overall requirements of this position
ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN II ($29.43 - $47.09 per hour)
* High school graduation or the equivalent
* Minimum 4 years work experience in technical review of construction documents associated with civil/site development
* Possession of a valid automobile operator's license
* NOTE: A combination of related education and/or work experience may be considered towards the overall requirements of this position
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
* Ability to maintain County Authorized Driver privileges
* Strong computer skills and considerable knowledge in the use of spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software, geographic information systems (GIS)
* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, contractors, developers, engineers, surveyors, and the general public.
* Knowledge of land surveying principles and practices
* Knowledge of Geographical Positions Systems (GPS)
* Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills
* General drafting or computer aided drawing (CAD) techniques and skills for site/civil type projects as well as clear and accurate record keeping
* Ability to read and interpret civil, mechanical and electrical engineering drawings, shop fabrication drawings, equipment submittals and other related technical literature
* Ability to use large document scanners, plotters and other peripheral devices
PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR:
* Related education or training
* Water and sewer design and/or construction experience
* AutoCAD experience specific to water and sewer design and planning
* Experience with ESRI GIS software (ArcGIS), Hansen (Infor) and Microsoft 365 (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Access)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:
* While working in this position, the employee is required to frequently sit, perform repetitive motions and reach; occasionally walk, lift up to 20 pounds, and drive
* While working in this position, the employee is required to frequently work indoors; occasionally work outdoors, walk on uneven ground, in dirty/dusty environments
* Physical requirements include the ability to travel over varied terrain in order to access and view facility sites, and to use manual tools to remove/replace manhole lids and drive stakes
* Ability to provide own transportation as needed for site visits, meetings, etc.
* Available for other working hours as needed
* In concert with the Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002, verification of employment eligibility and a criminal background check may be conducted
