Minimum Qualifications:
To be considered for employment as a police officer, you must be able to meet the following standards:

Written Examination for Entry Level Applicants
After completing the online applications, entry level applicants who are selected will be notified of a date and time for the written examination. The day of examination, you will be required to bring a valid state driver's license. The written examination is by invitation only and you must receive a score of 70% or higher to pass the exam.
Physical Agility Test
A standard physical agility test will be administered to all applicants - both entry level and lateral. You must receive a minimum passing score in each category to successfully pass this physical fitness test as required by the Maryland Police Training Commission.
Requirements:
* Climb over a barrier
* Pull/drag a 150lb rescue doll at least 15 feet
* Run a distance of at least 300 feet
* Traverse up/down at least two flights of steps
* 1.5 mile run with a maximum time of 15 minutes and 20 seconds
* 18 push-ups in 1 minute
* 27 sit-ups in 1 minute
Interview and Background Check
Selected candidates will be invited to interview with a selection panel. You must submit to a complete background check.
Screenings
Applicants will be required to undergo a medical examination, drug screening, polygraph examination and psychological screening. All screenings are scheduled separately.
Chief's Interview
The final step will be an interview with the Police Chief.
Offer of Employment
Contingent offer of employment will be presented upon completion of the employment testing including: medical and physical screening, drug screening, psychological evaluation and polygraph test.

A Police Officer:

* Maintain and thoroughly clean cages, runs and other common areas at the Animal Control Center (e.g. removing animal waste; mopping and scrubbing; sanitizing feeding equipment; and disinfecting areas where animals are kept, fed, watered and generally cared for, etc.)

* Enforce County and State Fire Codes and the fire laws of Maryland as they pertain to new permits
* Perform on-site inspections at in-progress construction sites to assure full compliance with fire and life safety codes in the construction and/or renovation of businesses and multi-family residences
* Participate in training sessions related to fire prevention and safety in order to keep abreast of current practices
* Witness initial functional performance tests of fire protection, extinguishing and alarm systems
* Compile and prepare formal inspection reports, memos, letters and other technical documents
* Review and utilize applicable codes, ordinances, etc. published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and other recognized standards
* Assist and interact with architects, engineers, developers, contractors, building owners, tenants and the general public
* Perform permit review functions for suppression systems, alarms, pumps, etc. as needed

* Associate's degree in Fire Science or a related field
* Minimum 5 years of work experience performing life safety code inspections of fire systems including sprinklers, alarms and pumps
* Ability to successfully complete NFPA training for certification as Fire Inspector I (NFPA #1031) within 12 months after hire, and Fire Inspector II (NFPA #1032) within 24 months after hire
* Possession of a valid automobile operator's license
* OR -

Non-exempt (compensatory and/or overtime eligible); full-time; 40 hours per week; Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; full-benefits This position is responsible for a broad range of duties related to technical review of documents associated with planning/designing and constructing water, sewer, and solid waste facilities for the Department of Engineering & Planning. Use of County plan review software in this position is required to manage and document review comments and status of commercial and subdivision projects; coordinate issuance of building permits in concert with water & sewer construction progress; and coordinate with other County staff and departments as required. Direction and Supervision is received from the Engineering Supervisor and/or Department Head.
This entry level position will provide new employees the opportunity to learn and grow with Frederick County Government. As additional experience is gained, employees can expect to progress through the multiple Technician levels FCG offers. * Review of preliminary plans of commercial sites and subdivisions for water and sewer service availability and adequacy
* Review water and sewer construction plans for conformance with various County and Division standards and requirements
* Review easements for record plats of subdivisions and offsite construction of water and sewer infrastructure
* Assist with selection and sizing of water meters
* Assist or coordinate the permitting process through the MD Department of the Environment, MD State Highway Administration, CSX railroad, other utilities, etc.
* Make on-site visits of existing and proposed water/wastewater construction sites as needed
* Review and coordinate construction contract packages for completeness of plans, easements, lot numbering, etc.
* Assign and manage new water and sewer project (contract) numbers; post to masters list
* Coordinate with in-house construction inspection staff to resolve questions that arise during construction
