Work with the Safety and Operations groups in the day-to-day functions required to run our business:
Develop and maintain programs and procedures designed to reduce occupational and non-occupational incidents, injuries and illnesses.Promote health and safety awareness throughout the organization through effective employee communications, participation, and programming.Develop, assist, and conduct training programs on related safety topics.Responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions.Support in the creation of and sustaining of a positive safety culture.Provide valuable feedback on Incident Investigations.
Employment blocks typically vary from 6-9 months based on performance and company needs. Applicants must be fulltime students studying within an applicable engineering field and available to work fulltime hours on the Ithaca, NY campus.
Required Experience/Qualifications:

Fulltime enrollment in a college or university with a major in engineering Ability to work fulltime hours for the duration of the co-op position Ability to work on the Ithaca, New York campus Ability to work well in a team environment

The Underwriting Co-Op will be introduced to world of insurance through a variety of projects that will support the department in improving efficiencies around workflow. The Co-Op will also have opportunity to collaborate with members of the Underwriting department along with other business units working in tandem to successfully achieve project goals. The Co-Op will be encouraged to provide innovative and new ideas to streamline the department's resource centers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Partner with Underwriting Associates and Underwriters to provide clerical and administrative support to the team. Assist in projects that create data efficiencies and enhance the workflow for the Underwriting department. Manage workflow queues and conduct timely and thorough reviews of all assignments in a manner that supports the department goals for turnaround time, and that meet the department's file quality and risk selection expectations. Work within the Salesforce platform and record submission data. Route correspondences and other matters that are beyond the Co-op's assigned authority to appropriate team member for evaluation.



Education, Requirements & Competencies


Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of programs. Ability to learn the use of new software applications as required. Strong communication skills, both written and oral. Strong attention to detail and time management skills. Ability to work in a team environment with the expectation of enhancing and contributing to the offices overall effectiveness and success. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Specialty Granules ("SGI") is committed to increase crop yield by supplying agricultural products for nutrient depleted soils, in particular soil amendment and plant nutrition products. SGI is seeking candidates for an Agriculture Co-op position to help build better agricultural products for increasing crop productivity and sustainable agriculture.

Co-Opportunity is a chance for you to learn about your chosen field in a real work environment with experienced SGI professionals. We offer full-time assignments to those students who are working toward undergraduate degrees in agronomy, soil science, crop science, or related disciplines.

Each assignment lasts a school term, and you may be invited to return to Specialty Granules LLC for additional terms while you continue your education. During your assignment, you will have a mentor - someone who will act as a coach to help you better understand both SGI and your work responsibilities. You will receive competitive pay, and a temporary living allowance.
As the Agriculture Co-Op you will be responsible for:

+ Supporting the process to evaluate the effect of agricultural products on carbon sequestration.

+ Understanding the effects of agricultural products on plant nutrition and soil health.

Requirements:

+ Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in agronomy, soil science, crop science, or related disciplines. All candidates must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and at least junior standing (based on semester/credit hours)

+ Familiarity with the soil testing and plant growth protocols, including sample preparation, filtration, dilutions etc.

+ Proficient with office productivity tools: Microsoft Office Suite and Google (G-Suite)

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to work either as part of a team and independently

+ Candidates must be a U.S citizen or a Permanent Resident

Travel Requirements: <5% domestically

Working Conditions: Office, travel, and outdoors/indoors within laboratory and growth chamber.
