The University of California , Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) invites applications for a #UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Area Low Desert Weed Management Advisor at the Assistant rank serving Imperial and Riverside Counties.
The Weed Management Advisor will implement an innovative multi-county extension education and applied research program focused on biology, ecology, and management of weeds of agricultural importance in the lower desert cropping systems of Imperial and Riverside Counties. Low desert commodities and cropping systems include a diverse mix of agronomic crops (alfalfa, wheat, Sudan grass, Rhodes grass, bermudagrass, Kleingrass, and oilseed crops) as well as various cool-season vegetable and specialty crops. Working closely with collaborators, including local growers, UCCE Advisors and Specialists, and other partners, the Advisor will develop strategies for controlling weeds and disseminate information on effective management practices.
UCCE Advisors are responsible for conducting applied research and extending knowledge. Research activities are applied and mission-oriented, focused on addressing challenges in our communities. Extension activities are the educational methods that Advisors use to share research results directly with clientele and communities, increasing knowledge and understanding of science-based research that promotes the adoption of practices and technologies to solve local problems. Extension activities may include individual farm consultations, presentations, or organizing educational workshops, short courses, and field demonstrations. Information may also be disseminated through various channels, such as radio, webinars, fact sheets, policy briefs, news blogs, social media, and other outlets. Publications are expected in various formats, including newsletters, articles for the popular press, curricula, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed journals.
Successful research and extension programs result in new information that improves knowledge or understanding, and eventual adoption of new skills or practices, changed attitudes or policies, and improved environmental, economic, or social conditions. UCCE Advisors are evaluated through an academic advancement system based on four criteria: 1) extending knowledge, 2) applied research and creative activity, 3) professional competence and activity, and 4) university and public service.

This position will be headquartered in the UC Cooperative Extension Office in Imperial County, located at 1050 E. Holton Road, Holtville, California , 92250.
Position Details
Low desert agricultural production areas in Southeastern California are dynamic, diverse, and challenging. They encompass some of the state's most productive areas due to their mild winters, extended growing seasons, and access to irrigation water. Crop planting and harvesting cycles reflect the arid nature of the Southwest and differ substantially from those in the rest of California . Accordingly, it is important that agricultural production information be locally generated. Weed management is a critical area for applied research in this unique growing area. The Advisor will develop applied weed management research locally and in partnerships with collaborators. It is expected that applied research will cover the low desert agricultural areas of Imperial and Riverside Counties, including the Imperial, Coachella, and Palo Verde Valleys, which produce more than 100 commodities year-round.
Research is expected to address weed management practices, including weed biology, ecology, and other weed management techniques. Low desert crops are infested with various weeds, including noxious and invasive weeds, as well as those resistant to herbicides. Weed management research programs will be developed and carried out in collaboration with UC ANR academics and appropriate statewide efforts, including UC ANR Program Teams and Workgroups, local stakeholders, and other collaborating industries in Imperial and Riverside Counties. The Advisor is expected to collaborate with other Cooperative Extension (CE) and Agricultural Extension Stations (AES) researchers and educators to conduct research and education programs that address the issues within weed management and related disciplines. The advisor will be supported by CE and AES specialists and researchers at UC Davis, UC Riverside, and UC Berkeley. Additionally, the Advisor will also collaborate with USDA ARS scientists, community groups, neighboring state agricultural agents and specialists, relevant community colleges, and state universities. Partnering/collaborating with local agencies, County of Imperial Department of Agriculture, Weights, and Measures, County of Riverside Department of Agriculture, Weights, and Measures, Imperial Weed Management Area (WMA) groups, Low Desert WMA groups, and California Invasive Plant Council is also encouraged.
Science-based research results and other educational information will be disseminated using a variety of methods including individual consultations, presentations at grower and industry meetings, workshops, short courses, field demonstrations, UC ANR publications, peer-reviewed journal articles, newsletters, technical reports to commodity boards/funding agencies, and an appropriate mix of contemporary and emerging electronic tools (such as online learning, web content systems and repositories, social media, impact and evaluation tools), along with specialized and public media outlets. The advisor will collaborate with other local UCCE Advisors to organize educational extension events and workshops.
Key clientele will include commercial farms (both large and small), pest control advisers, allied industries, commodity groups, seed companies, conservation/environmental groups, public agencies, and consumers. The growing popularity of home gardening in Imperial and Riverside Counties may create an opportunity to reach urban and gardening clientele.
The advisor joins a team of highly motivated UCCE colleagues who are passionate about their work. Reporting Relationship:
In this appointment, you will report directly to the UC Cooperative Extension Director for Imperial and San Diego Counties, with input from the Director of UC Cooperative Extension for Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties. This is not a remote position; the advisor must be available to work onsite at the headquarters location and travel to and be present in the other assigned county. Specific expectations for maintaining office hours and fieldwork in the geographic area covered by this position will be outlined upon hire by the respective supervisors.

Position Overview
The University of California , Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR), in collaboration with the University of California , Santa Cruz, invites applications for a UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Specialist at the Assistant rank.
Food safety is a major priority for California agriculture, especially in the fresh produce industry. This position will address the evolving food safety challenges in specialty crop production, bringing needed scientific and technical expertise to the field, with a focus on the intersection between food safety and organic/regenerative farming practices. The Specialist will examine the potential of agricultural technologies, such as drones, spectral analysis, and sensors, to help California growers ensure the safety of their harvest while using organic and regenerative practices.
UC Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Specialists develop and conduct research and educational programs aimed at appropriate clientele groups in communities outside of UC campuses. UCCE Specialists have programs primarily focused on mission-oriented research or creative work that support the university's efforts to extend knowledge, including outreach and community engagement. Mission-oriented research describes the complete research continuum that extends from basic research to applications of research results. This research is generally applied in nature and has, as a goal, finding solutions for problems facing society related to the mission of the UCCE Specialist's discipline and the UCCE mission. UCCE Specialists publish the results of applied research in a combination of peer-reviewed publications and stakeholder-facing materials, including refereed journals, technical reports, and white papers, tailored to the needs of the audiences their programs serve.
Extension programs disseminate knowledge and information to clientele groups to help them better understand and address problems and opportunities they face. The extension educational program serves the University's public service mission. Educational program activities include but are not limited to collaborations with UCCE Advisors, other UCCE Specialists, campus faculty, program teams, workgroups, or clientele groups; developing and presenting educational materials; communicating to clientele through broadcast, print, or electronic media; participating in meetings with clientele; developing and delivering in-service training courses; organizing or participating in workshops, field tours, symposia or conferences. Much of this work is conducted in partnership with UC ANR's locally based UCCE Advisors. The UCCE Specialist-Advisor and faculty partnership creates an applied research network that benefits both the University and the public at large. This position does not include formal classroom instruction at the University.
Location Headquarters
The Specialist will be part of the University of California , Santa Cruz Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The position will be based primarily at the Westside Research Park, near the UCSC main campus, managed by the Baskin School of Engineering, with secondary office space and presence required at the Monterey Bay Education, Science, and Technology Center (MBEST), in the emerging food safety nexus of Monterey County.
Position Details
While the Food Safety Modernization Act dictates federal mandates for food safety regulation, wholesalers and buyers drive current compliance practices with more stringent standards enforced via third-party regulators. This de facto enforcement landscape, with proprietary third-party metrics, is obscure and does not necessarily utilize science-based assessment of food safety outcomes. Moreover, increasing pressures for organic/regenerative farm practices (e.g., compost, hedgerows for biodiversity, conservation setbacks, reduced chemical applications), driven by consumers and produce buyers, are often at odds with food safety risk reduction best practices. Food safety concerns include issues such as E. coli and other bacterial contaminants from animal and bird waste deposited on or around crops, relationships between natural habitats on farms and bacterial pathogens, use or misuse of chemical pesticides, and impacts on worker and community health. As technological innovations advance, there is a need to apply novel technologies to these and other pressing food safety challenges. This Specialist will examine and exploit the potential of agricultural technologies to address food safety.
Primary duties and responsibilities for this Specialist include:
Collaborating extensively with UCSC faculty, as well as UC ANR's network of advisors, specialists, AES faculty, statewide programs, program teams, and institutes. Additional potential collaborators include other UC campuses, the California State University Monterey Bay, Hartnell College, Cabrillo Community College, other academic institutions, community partners, government agencies, and industry partners.
Designing and conducting applied research focused on the intersection of food safety and technology. Potential areas of research include:
o Novel approaches to assessing runoff and water contamination using landscape-level assessments across multiple sources (rangeland/pasture, urban, etc.)
o New technologies for assessing food safety risk (multispectral imaging, AI) through field scouting (aerial and terrestrial drones) for vector identification and crop characteristics
o Research on the impact of amendments on food safety outcomes
o Research on the effects of conservation practices (soil amendments, compost, hedgerows, wetlands, conservation habitat) on food safety outcomes across different cropping systems and climatic regions
o Legislative recommendations for drone safety, piloting, and licensing in the agricultural context
o Novel approaches to drone applications (spraying, biological payload delivery, imaging) and effectiveness based on scale and frequency
o Integration of environmental sensors with drone applications for real-time adaptation based on site data
o Implications of transitioning to drone spray applications from large aerial vehicles for regulations on drift, overspray, buffers, and community health impacts
Building an effective extension education program (statewide trainings, workshops, educational resources, website, etc.) that helps partners and clientele implement technology strategies to improve food safety outcomes. The Specialist will serve as a resource for UCCE Advisors, county agricultural commissioners, pest control associations, government scientists, and regulatory personnel. Additionally, the Specialist will have significant engagement with youth training and workforce development, informing the practices and skills needed to train the next generation of agricultural workers with high-tech skills.
Publishing findings in accessible formats, including peer-reviewed journals, ANR outlets, industry publications, and relevant online platforms, to widen the reach and impact of research outcomes.
Participating in professional society activities and scholarly contributions, attaining goals of state, national, and international recognition over time.
Geographic Area of Responsibility
This state-wide position will serve the agriculture sector across California , helping farmers, growers, and ranchers move towards more organic/regenerative and high-tech agriculture. This is an exciting opportunity to impact diverse communities throughout the state.
Reporting Relationship:
The position will be academically positioned within the UC Santa Cruz Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The appointment is within UC ANR, and UC ANR will oversee the merit and promotion process, consistent with other UC ANR CE Specialists, in consultation with the UCSC Department Chair. The CE specialist will also hold an additional 0% (uncompensated) CE Specialist appointment at UCSC. It is not a remote position; the candidate must be available to work onsite at the UCSC campus and MBEST.
Qualifications and Skills Required
Education: A minimum of a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in electrical engineering, agricultural engineering, computer engineering, or a related field is required at the time of appointment. Position Overview
The University of California , Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) invites applications for a UC Cooperative Extension Area Orchard Systems Advisor, serving Stanislaus and San Joaquin Counties. The successful candidate will implement an innovative multi-county extension education and applied research program that will focus on almonds and pistachios in Stanislaus County and peaches and apricots in Stanislaus and San Joaquin Counties. Disciplinary focus will be on orchard production systems, nutrient management, pest management, water efficiency, and soil fertility and health.
UCCE Advisors are responsible for applied research and the extension of knowledge. Research activities are applied, needs-based, mission-oriented, and focused on addressing our communities' challenges. Extension activities are educational practices Advisors use to share research results directly with their clientele and communities. Increased knowledge and understanding of science-based research helps to support and promote the adoption of practices and technologies that solve problems. Extension methods may include individual consultations, presentations, organization of educational workshops and short courses, field demonstrations, farm calls, and site visits. Information may also be disseminated via radio outreach, webinars, fact sheets, policy briefs, news blogs, and social media. Publications are expected in various formats, such as newsletters, articles for the popular press, curriculums, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed publications. Successful research and extension programs result in new information that improves knowledge or understanding and adoption of new skills, practices, changed attitudes, policies, and improved environmental, health, agricultural, economic, and/or social conditions. UCCE Advisors are evaluated through an academic advancement system based on four criteria: extending knowledge, applied research and creative activity, professional competence and activity, and University and public service.
Location Headquarters: This position will be headquartered in the UCCE Office in Stanislaus County, located at 3800 Cornucopia Way, #A, Modesto, CA 95358.
Position Details
The Area Orchard Systems Advisor will support the ANR Public Values of "Promoting economic prosperity in California " through increases in agriculture efficiency and profitability; "Protecting California 's natural resources" by improving land management, soil quality, agricultural sustainability, water quality, and water use efficiency; and "Building climate-resilient communities and ecosystems" by increasing resilience to extreme weather and climate change by improving water resiliency with on-farm practices such as groundwater recharge and recycling water and biomass.
The advisor will develop an applied research program to address critical issues facing orchard crops. These include irrigation and fertigation efficiency, rootstock and variety evaluation, cropping efficiency, overcoming salt and soil chemistry challenges, soil health and cover cropping, invasive disease epidemics and use of plant growth regulators to help overcome issues related to climate change. Priorities may include fruit harvest mechanization to address labor shortages, canopy size and structure to facilitate harvest efficiency, and fertilization strategies to optimize fruit size, yield, and quality.
There is strong support from the local industry that will allow the new advisor to address high-profile policy issues (e.g. Flood Managed Aquifer Recharge and Climate Smart Ag) such as fertilizer and irrigation management concerns that are facing additional regulation in coming years but are key to advancing profitability. There are numerous publication opportunities across these crops and disciplines, including trade journal publications, commodity board technical reports, and scientific journals.
The advisor will be expected to collaborate in knowledge creation and extension with key clientele including farmers and allied industry. California pest control advisors (PCA) and certified crop advisors (CCA) seek continuing education to continue to advise farmers on best practices and develop nutrient management plans on roughly 475,000 fruit and nut acres in Stanislaus and San Joaquin Counties. The position is responsible for creating and implementing an innovative extension program using traditional and modern tools to support the development of new practices and evaluation of existing practices for increasing production efficiencies while being protective of natural resources. The advisor will provide needs-based education that is responsive to the preferences of clientele.
Programs will be developed and carried out in collaboration with other ANR academics as well as related government and private industries in Stanislaus and San Joaquin Counties. The position requires interaction with farmers, landowners, commodity boards, pest control advisors, federal and state agency managers and partners, and other client groups and managers from the public and/or private sector. The advisor is expected to work collaboratively with Cooperative Extension Specialists, AES researchers and Cooperative Extension Advisors through various workgroups. UCCE Stanislaus County has the resources to maximize the productivity of this advisor for statewide as well as local benefit, including an established team of both an integrated pest management advisor and an irrigation advisor, both working exclusively in orchard systems, that will serve as the foundation of local collaboration in research and extension. The Orchard Systems Advisor will bring valuable orchard/horticulture knowledge to the local team, allowing for a holistic approach to research and extension programs aimed at tackling multi-faceted issues.
Counties of Responsibility. This position will be headquartered in Stanislaus County and will serve Stanislaus and San Joaquin Counties.
Reporting Relationship: The advisor serves under the administrative guidance of the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Stanislaus County Director with input from the San Joaquin County Director. It is not a remote position; the candidate must be available to work onsite at the headquarters location and travel to and be present in other counties with programmatic responsibilities. Specific expectations for maintaining office hours and fieldwork in the geographic area covered by this position will be outlined upon hire by the respective directors and supervisors.

Education: A minimum of a master's degree related to pomology, horticulture, plant science, or a related field is required at the time of appointment.
Key Qualifications

The CE Advisor must possess or obtain a Qualified Pesticide Applicator Certificate (QAC) or License (QAL) prior to applying or supervising the application of any pesticide.

Experience in program and/or personnel management.

At the center of California 's San Joaquin Valley, Stanislaus County is comprised of just over 1500 square miles, and a population of over half a million residents, centered in the county seat of Modesto. Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with coursework relevant to communications, journalism, science communications, or equivalent work experience or training.
Knowledge and understanding of technical communications applications, including design concepts, media platforms, and applications, such as InDesign, Canva, Drupal-based web platforms, email marketing platforms, YouTube Studio, video editing software, Sharepoint, social media platforms, and other relevant applications.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including active listening, political acumen and diplomatic ability, and cultural humility.
Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to manage multiple project tasks to ensure successful completion.
Skills to work with teams or departments to tailor communications deliverables to both targeted and broad general audiences, including identifying appropriate communication styles and modes for the intended audience.

University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) Nutrition Policy Institute (NPI) offers a unique recruitment opportunity for Assistant Project Scientist to work on studies related to youth cardiometabolic health; school physical activity and nutrition programs (recess, PE, school meals); and nutrition and physical activity policy implementation science. Potential research projects include examining longitudinal trends in student cardiorespiratory fitness; determining changes in elementary school recess minutes and related practices pre-/post-passage of state-wide recess law in California ; and determining the impact of school lunch program changes in New York City Public schools on student school meal participation.

Major duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Project Scientist will include collecting, cleaning, and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data; designing and managing studies; supporting grant writing efforts; and presenting and publishing research through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
The Assistant Project Scientist will also have the opportunity to develop grant writing and mentorship experience. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with expertise in quantitative methods and public health nutrition and physical activity who would like to develop expertise in areas such as natural experiments, drawing causal inference from observational data, randomized controlled trials, school health policy, qualitative methods, and implementation science. QUALIFICATIONS
Required qualifications:
Education: A minimum of a doctorate degree in community nutrition, nutritional epidemiology, public health, health policy or a related field is required at the time of appointment. Preferred background includes experience with state and federal nutrition assistance programs.

Position Overview
The University of California , Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) invites applications for a UC Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development Advisor for College and Career Readiness, serving Mendocino and Lake Counties. The Advisor will develop and deliver a program that will provide all youth meaningful personal development opportunities. The Advisor is expected to develop an extension and applied research program framed in positive youth development, emphasizing college and career readiness and curricula to promote program growth and expanded opportunities for youth participation.
UCCE Advisors are responsible for applied research and extension of knowledge. Research activities are applied, needs-based, mission-oriented, and focused on addressing our communities' challenges. Extension activities are the educational practices Advisors use to share research results directly with clientele and communities. Increased knowledge and understanding of science-based research helps to support and promote the adoption of practices and technologies that solve problems. Extension methods may include individual consultations, presentations, organization of educational workshops and short courses, field demonstrations, and farm and site visits. Information may also be disseminated via radio outreach, webinars, fact sheets, policy briefs, news blogs, and social media. Publications are expected in various formats, such as newsletters, articles for the popular press, curriculums, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed publications. Successful research and extension programs result in new information that improves knowledge or understanding and adoption of new skills, practices, changed attitudes, policies, and improved environmental, health, agricultural, economic, and/or social conditions. UCCE Advisors are evaluated through an academic advancement system based on four criteria: extending knowledge, applied research and creative activity, professional competence and activity, and University and public service.

Position Details
The Advisor will implement an innovative extension education and applied research program to address issues related to College and Career Readiness in Mendocino and Lake counties. Using a positive youth development framework for college and career readiness, this position will create opportunities for youth to participate in meaningful developmental experiences to prepare them for further education and careers. The advisor will also provide academic oversight of the 4-H community club program and educational leadership to county based 4-H staff, educators, volunteers, and community members. This position offers the opportunity to address a myriad of issues by creating youth voice and authentic opportunities to solve issues of interest and importance to youth, such as access to built and natural environments, creating welcoming community spaces for youth and culturally responsive youth development.
This position is positively situated to integrate ANR's research and extension education efforts across communities to improve youth development across the region.

Counties of Responsibility. This position will be headquartered in the UCCE Lake County office, CA and have activity in Mendocino County. The position will also provide support to the statewide network of 4-H Youth Development community educators in College and Career Readiness.
Reporting Relationship: The CE Advisor serves under the administrative guidance of the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) Area County Director of UCCE Mendocino and Lake Counties, and programmatically under the 4-H Statewide Director. This is not a remote position; the candidate must be available to work onsite at the headquarters location and travel to and be present in other counties with programmatic responsibilities. Specific expectations for maintaining office hours and fieldwork in the geographic area covered by this position will be outlined upon hire by the respective directors and supervisors.

Duties include:
Perform basic measurements and tests on patients according to protocol, such as obtaining vital signs and performing phlebotomy and EKG, after appropriate training/certification. Collect study specimens according to protocol.

Extract data from source documents for research studies as directed. Collect data and complete case report forms.
Prepare, process, and ship specimens/samples accurately under well-defined requirements.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
3-5 years phlebotomy experience.

Each educator is required to attend an orientation/training on June 4 and 5, 2026 and will work during camp weeks for a minimum of 37.5 hours/week and no more than 40 hours/week
. They will also be compensated for 10 hours of prep work at the start of camps for research and lesson plan preparation, per different camp theme. If teaching the same camp for a different age group, educators will be compensated an additional 5 hours of prep work. Camp sessions run from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. Educators are expected to report from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm to prepare their classrooms before camp and to clean up after each day.
Pay Range: $30-$32/hour based on experience.

What You'll Do
As a Summer Camp Lead Educator, you will be responsible for developing and implementing
art-based lesson plans that connect to the DAM collection
. You will guide up to 20 campers through in-gallery experiences and art projects relating to these experiences. You will:
Develop and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials
Compile a supply list (within given budget)
Visit the DAM ahead of time to plan lessons and choose which

galleries to use with campers
Set up and organize workshops
Prep materials
Work collaboratively and thoughtfully with a co-facilitator (Seasonal Educator) assigned by the DAM. This includes sharing lesson plans with the Seasonal Educator ahead of time and dividing tasks through the day. Seasonal Educators are not aides but co-facilitators and should be treated as such.
Set classroom expectations with campers for appropriate camp behavior
Greet students and track attendance

Integrate a teaching practice that centers equity and diversity in their camp

Total Care Services, Inc. (TCS) is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Case Manager in our Coordination of Community Services program. The Coordinator of Community Services II (CCS II) will work with the Program Support Supervisor to manage the Person-Centered-Plans (PCP), Comprehensive Assessment (CA ), and Supports and Services Planning Tool (SSPT). The CCS II will thoroughly understand the PCP, CA , and SSPT processes and timelines required by Federal and State compliance regulations. As a Case Manager, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families in Maryland.
As a Case Manager (CCSII), you will:
Work collaboratively with clients and their families to identify needs, goals, and preferences
Provide information about community resources and support services
Empower clients to make informed choices and plan for their future
Assist clients in accessing service delivery systems, resources, and supports
Monitor and evaluate services to ensure they meet clients' needs and preferences
Carry a caseload of at least twenty-five (25) persons served, complete and document a minimum of thirty (30) billable units a day (or one hundred (150) units per week) within Long Term Services and Support System (LTSS) Maryland for activities completed on behalf of eligible persons.
Manage and complete all assigned Person-Centered-Plans (PCP) and Supports and Services Planning Tools (SSPT).
Pair up with CCS I teams and Program Supervisors to provide support.
Act as a backup in the absence of CCS I and PCP Manager/Scheduler.
Assist with continuous improvement projects such as training and/or initiatives.
Attends weekly supervision with the Program Support Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree in human services required.
Case management: 2 years (Required)
Community engagement: 2 years (Required)
Must be a licensed driver and have own transportation with valid insurance.
Must be able to drive to and from meetings throughout the state of Maryland.
Knowledge of Home and Community Based Waiver Services and the developmental disabilities field.
Mandatory COVID-19 Vaccination Policy applies to all employees.
Must be a U.S. citizen or alien who is lawfully authorized to work in the United States.
Must be proficient with Microsoft 365 Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMS, and all other applications.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must have excellent analytical skills and possess the ability to perform statistical analysis of aggregate data.
