Improper or erratic lane changes.

No more than three moving violations within the last three years and no more than two moving violations within the last 12 months.
No Reckless/Careless Driving, driving while intoxicated or under the influence of drugs within the last 5 years.
No preventable accidents involving a fatality, bodily injuries treated away from the accident scene, or disabling damage to a motor vehicle within the last 3 years, (disabling damage means damage that precludes departure of any motor vehicle from the scene of the accident in its usual manner in daylight after simple repairs). This includes damaged vehicles that are drivable, but would incur further damage, if so driven.

The City of Moorhead is accepting applications for a TruckDriver in the Sanitation division of the Public Works Department. The primary responsibility is to drive truck/equipment and collect and dispose of garbage from residential, commercial, and industrial areas through the use of equipment and or manually collect trash, garbage bags or bags of grass clippings, or other items as needed. This position will operate a sanitation truck and other waste collection vehicles on an assigned route, or other route when needed, performing equipment and vehicle inspections and minor maintenance and repair of refuse containers, semi's, roll-off trucks and compost equipment, to include welding, replacing parts, painting, and related work as required.
HOURS: Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm. Flexible schedule, home evenings and weekends!
One 4-hour morning shift rotation every 6 weeks, generally overtime.
HIRING RANGE: $23.69 to $24.67 ($49,280 to $51,324). The full range is $23.69 to $33.57.
RAISES: Employees receive a raise on their anniversary date each year.
Plus this position also receives a 6% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) increase in both January 2026, and January 2027 per the Union contract.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to the following major duties performed. Duties are listed from most to least important.
• Operates sanitation truck picking up refuse, solid waste and recyclables on assigned route, or other route when needed; transports to disposal areas.
• Operates roll-off truck; loads and unloads boxes to meet regulatory guidelines; completes paperwork.
• Separates recyclables as required.
• Operates mechanisms for compressing and dumping refuse.
• Conducts pre-trip inspection of truck.
• Cleans sanitation truck and equipment.
• Performs routine inspections and minor maintenance on vehicle and equipment.

Fargo Route Driver Overview:
Starts/ends daily in Fargo. The route will start in the early morning hours (3-4am, depending on assigned route) and end early to mid-afternoon. The end time varies by day as some days are bigger order days than others, and most drivers average of 45-55 hours per week. Route drivers start the morning picking up the packed trailer and follow the delivery route given. At each stop, there will be some building of the loads to take in to the customer which requires attention to detail in reading and scanning delivery tickets, working with the customer on where to place their products, getting required signatures, and developing relationships with these repeat customers. For our longer routes we are moving towards scheduling 4 days per week which should average about 45 hours per week with occasional 5 day weeks to cover routes as needed.
Fargo Shuttle Driver Overview (not currently hiring for)
Pull two full trailers from our Fargo warehouse to one of our many remote locations, move con gear to drop off and pick up two empty trailers, and pull the two empty trailers back to Fargo. This is a great evening route for anyone looking for a drop and hook driving position. Drivers work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights, so you have the weekend to yourself! General start time can range from 7-11pm, depending on the shuttle assigned.
Responsibilities:
Accurately, safely, and efficiently deliver merchandise using hand-trucks, ramps and/or lift gates to customers on a predetermined delivery route. May include delivering products up and down stairs and in all types of weather.
Operate all working equipment safely and efficiently, including but not limited to hand truck, pallet jack, scanner and printer.
Provide the highest level of service and product integrity for every customer by safe and timely delivery of customer orders.
Deliver and stack merchandise on customer premises.
Accurately record delivery by verifying delivery of items with customers and obtaining proper signatures at the time of delivery.
Practice Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines to reduce risks for crashes, injuries and fatalities.
Utilize onboard computer to appropriately record mileage, hours of service and maintain driver log to adhere to state and federal Department of Transportation (DOT) guidelines.
Complete comprehensive pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and DVIRs.
Maintain legal weight limits and distributions.
Practice defensive driving skills and proper body mechanics to ensure safe driving and delivering practices.
