At the Allen County Public Library, the Communications Center Operator serves as a liaison between the community and the entire Library system, through the use of the multi-line switchboard, emergency phones, security cameras, various office equipment, and the fire and safety alarm systems. The position is located at the downtown Main Branch.

The schedule will be primarily second-shift with a rotating weekend schedule.
Essential FunctionsAnswers incoming calls on switchboard providing service to internal and external customers; answers routine questions about the library and its services; routes calls to appropriate person or department as necessary.Responds to emergency phone calls or other emergency requests as received and notifies appropriate personnel.Operates and monitors video surveillance system; dispatches Security Officers to departments per request from staff, or per situations viewed on cameras. Receives and relays messages for staff Makes necessary phone calls to contractors for repairs such as; elevators, parking machines and vending machines.Documents and issues identification badges; issues parking passes.Monitors weather conditions and notifies appropriate staff of concerns as necessary.Makes announcements over communications system to customers and staff as required.Contacts on-call maintenance personnel for calls regarding maintenance issues after hours.Promotes and supports the overall mission of the Library by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with the public and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
RequirementsHigh School Diploma/GED; AND one (1) year of customer service experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Job Description
Communicator Operators are the first point of contact for anyone calling El Camino Hospital's main numbers. Operators are responsible for accurately processing incoming calls for: staff (internal), public (external), physicians (answering service clients), and emergency code responses. Operators will focus on providing callers with general inquiry assistance and efficiently transferring calls to the appropriate destinations. Operators will work closely with clinical staff, department management and clients to ensure calls are handled with a high degree of customer service. At a lower volume, this position will also initiate outgoing calls and other notifications via phone, two-way radio and overhead building paging systems. Other duties include but are not limited to updating system information, completing required documentation and escalating priority issues according to operating procedures. This is an all shifts position and will be expected to work at both El Camino Hospital campuses (Mountain View and Los Gatos) as needed. QUALIFICATIONS:1. High School degree or equivalent. 2. Previous call center, dispatch, or customer service experience, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environment.3. Proficient use of communication systems including multi-line phones, two-way radios, vocera and building paging.4. Previous experience with Cisco UCCX, Intellidesk platforms and Siemens and Simplex fire panels highly desirable.5. Proficient use of computer systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications, email and internet.6. Proficient use of proper English and strong verbal, reading and comprehension skills. 7. Knowledge of or ability to quickly learn healthcare and emergency terminology and procedures. 8. Ability to listen carefully and accurately recall detailed information in a fast-paced environment.9. Ability to take action as indicated by general instructions and established procedures to resolve routine assignments.10. Ability to successfully prioritize multiple tasks and manage resources within established timeframes.11. Demonstrated compassionate and professional demeanor. 12. Medical terminology a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Operates all scales, meters, shedder equipment, cheese hoist, applicators, V-Mag and related cheese equipment.
• Requests the Bill of Materials (BOM) from Gatekeeper/Lead for the product in production.
• Requisitions the required ingredients stated on the BOM from the Gatekeeper.
• Checks that the ingredients staged by the Gatekeeper matches the ingredients requested in the BOM.
• Works with the Gatekeeper to ensure pallet quantities match tag quantities for any ingredients returning to the warehouse or ingredients that are passed to the next shift.
• Enters weights into the Statistical Process Control (SPC) program as indicated.
• Mixes cheese with the required dry ingredients as stated in the BOM and loads them into the applicator and V-Mag.
• Monitors cheese, batches and product temperatures to ensure they are meeting specified standards.
• Accurately weighs all relevant ingredients, including but not limited to re-work cheese, and other small ingredients
• Ensures that all containers are labeled, color coded and handled properly using established methods and procedures.
