Montana State University communications program manager job description

The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) provides and facilitates student engagement opportunities for MSU students through a variety of programs, events, services, and activities. We are THE HUB for students interested in connecting with their fellow Bobcats through student government, student organizations, programs and events, and engaging in service to the community. The purpose of this position is to coordinate engagement opportunities, activities and events both on and off campus that students can engage in as part of their university experience.
Duties and Responsibilities

Develop short and long-term goals to advance student engagement in meaningful out of classroom educational and leadership experiences, including student organizations, student government, campus entertainment, community service, and global involvement. Create measurable assessments to evaluate program success and improve services that advance MSU's strategic plan.
Plan, coordinate and implement a large-scale event, Catapalooza and other special events/programs, as assigned
Coordinate all aspects of marketing and communications efforts for OSE and ASMSU programs and activities. This will include website content creation, website maintenance, oversight of graphics creation (logos, posters, etc.), writing press releases/announcements, content creation of e-newsletters, digital signage management, all social media and other marketing outlets.
Create a "master marketing plan" to enhance campus and community awareness of OSE and ASMSU programs and missions through marketing, advertising and collaborating with other organizations.
Work with staff and students to develop marketing and communications plans and timelines for various projects and programs.
Assess and evaluate marketing and outreach activities to judge their success and impact.
Gather data, compose and disseminate annual reports for OSE and ASMSU.
Represent OSE and ASMSU in classroom presentations, at MSU Fridays, orientations and other on and off campus avenues and events as assigned.

Serve as a member of ASMSU Administrative Council and as an ex-officio member of the Budget Oversight Committee. At the request of the Director, participate in additional committees, councils, and advisory boards. Develop connections with colleagues, programs, departments and offices across the campus and community through strategic partnerships, financial collaboration, innovative initiatives, and professional networking.
Manage ASMSU funding and reporting, including researching, compiling, analyzing, interpreting and communicating budgetary reports with high degree of accuracy to assist students, faculty, and staff in the budgeting and expenditure process and procedures. Interpret, communicate, and maintain compliance with fiscal policies and procedures. Manage and design financial spreadsheets, databases, and related reports.

Required Qualifications - Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Experience in planning, implementation, and assessment strategies for ongoing, successful student development and leadership programming.
Expertise in public speaking, professional development training, and program marketing and outreach.
Experience with advanced accounting, budgeting, and fiscal management principles, practices, and procedures.
Demonstrated competence organizing and prioritizing multiple workloads, meeting deadlines, and exercising adaptability to changing priorities while balancing the needs of students, faculty, and staff stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience with students in formal leadership roles of governance, events management, programs facilitators. Experience collaborating with campus and community organizations.
Bachelor's degree in related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Job Summary

The Manager of Academic Programs manages the marketing, alumni engagement, enrollment management and scheduling functions for the Communication Department degree programs and Communication continuing education offerings.

Essential Functions

* Oversee student recruitment, marketing and communication for Communication degree programs and Communication continuing education offerings. In collaboration with department leadership, the College Director of Program Innovation and college communication staff, develop and implement marketing, recruitment and communication strategies to grow student majors and course enrollments, and support retention of current students.
* Manage alumni outreach related to academic programs and alumni/student engagement, including development and implementation of alumni/student events.
* Collaborate with College communication staff to insure appropriate website updates are made. Input event listings on website and make other web updates as necessary.
* Review and analyze enrollment data for undergraduate and graduate programs. Produce reports for the Undergraduate Program Director and Committee and Department Chair. Implement procedures and guidelines for scheduling decisions, student enrollment priority policies, administrative procedures, etc., to accomplish program objectives and goals. Confer with the Undergraduate Program Director, the Graduate Program Director, and the Department Chair to determine optimal course offerings with available resources, including tracking and confirming number of honors, general education, and Residential Academic Programs offerings.
* Create, test, and improve data collection systems for scheduling. Utilize the University scheduling system to schedule classes, meetings, and rooms on campus and advise the Chair about space considerations. Evaluate scheduling in order to determine progress and effectiveness, and to make recommendations concerning changes as needed.
* Assist departmental leadership on issues of curriculum creation and revision, including processing curriculum changes through the Faculty Senate approval system. Collect, analyze, forecast, and archive data about course offerings, enrollment, and students, and serve on College or University Committees as needed.

Other Functions

* Performs related duties as assigned or required to meet Department, Executive Area/Division, and University goals and objectives.
