We have an opening for 2nd shift (2 pm-10 pm). Shelter Advocates are required to work every other weekend and every other holiday. Shelter Advocates who work the holiday are paid time and a half!
Our Milwaukee Women's Shelter provides comprehensive services and treatment for women, men, and children whose lives have been affected by domestic violence, addiction, mental health issues, homelessness, and poverty.
Our Autumn West Safe Haven provides low-barrier housing for individuals who are currently homeless and experiencing severe and persistent mental health challenges.
This position is responsible for the routine operations of the site during the assigned shift, collaborates with all shelter staff, and reports to the Program Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Processing and documenting incoming calls on the 24-hour crisis line/211 Referrals- for potential Homeless families and DV victims and families. Advising Volunteers and Interns on acceptable methods as they relate to the crisis line.
Complete intakes and/or outtakes for families residing at the FSC/MWC Shelter. Including: providing tours for families during intakes and cleaning and preparing rooms when residents leave the shelter for the next family
Consistently update daily shift reports and keeping Case Managers/Ops Manager/Shelter Manager/Intake Specialist informed
Helping to maintain the cleanliness of the shelter and keeping order at all times. .
Complete room inspections on each floor. Make rounds every other hour throughout the entire facility to ensure that systems are running safely.
Serve as an internal and external liaison by reporting all incident details of the shelter to the Case Managers, Shelter Manager and COO. This also means behaving in a professional manner at all times when interacting with staff, clients, volunteers, interns and community organizations.
Function as a team player in order to meet the goals and objectives of the FSC/MWC Shelter and in supporting our mission.
Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Skills and Qualifications
Work and/or volunteer experience related to domestic violence, social work and/or residential programs.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge and experience in crisis intervention.
Sensitivity to the effects of Trauma on survivors
Computer experience required.
Ability and willingness to work both individually and as part of a team with other staff in provision of services to residents.
Verbal and written skills - ability to convey information effectively and as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
Active listening - giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Your Role

Key Responsibilities:
Appraising, scheduling, and managing all analog and electronic information in accordance with Archdiocesan Records Policies and Procedures. The position is the key liaison to the Central Offices and IT collaborating with staff to preserve audio-visual materials
Lead implementation and improvement of the Archdiocese's Records Management program
Manage guidelines and workflows for the creation and use of electronic records at the Archdiocese of Milwaukee
Manage guidelines and workflows for managing email within the central offices
Research, plan, and propose digital archive software and equipment for management of electronic records
Manage the disposition of records

Under the direction of the Autumn West Safe Haven Program Manager, the Resident Manager oversees routine operations of the Safe Haven. This position provides consumer support in a 24/7 residential environment for homeless individuals experiencing mental health/co-occurring challenges.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide consistent and reliable coverage for assigned shifts in a primarily unsupervised environment.
Attend to general housekeeping needs of common areas, kitchen, bathroom and office areas.
Monitor the Safe Haven to help create a safe and therapeutic environment for consumers
Conduct rounds throughout the entire building to ensure consumers safety.
Perform general administrative functions such as noting within the communication log, answering the phone and responding to in-person inquiries in a professional manner.
Report any changes in consumer behaviors, functioning, and other pertinent information to the Program Manager and Care Coordinator.
Provides crisis intervention as needed, including determining when it is necessary to involve other staff, administration or emergency personnel.
Work independently and monitor security cameras and resident entry/exits.
Maintain written and oral communication of incidents in accordance with Safe Haven policies.
Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in response to unexpected or unusual consumer demands.
Attend staff meetings and participate in monthly Resident Manager Meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED required.
Understanding and sensitivity to matters relating to homelessness, mental illness and alcohol/drug abuse.
The ability to interact comfortably and persuasively with diverse resident, staff and volunteers.
The ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries when working with residents.
The ability to assess emergency situations and respond effectively.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer experience (Microsoft Office, Excel spreadsheets, etc) is highly desirable.
The ability to maintain confidentiality related to consumers care.
Physically able to perform duties including, lifting up to 25 pounds, climbing stairs prolonged standing or sitting.

democracy FIRST is seeking highly motivated and talented Field Organizers that are passionate about expanding our work to elect pro-democracy candidates to local positions across Wisconsin in the spring 2026 cycle. As a Field Organizer, you will play a critical role in expanding our field impact down the ballot and help protect the administration of our elections for the future. This position requires a strong ability to engage with voters and support the overall organizing program across the city you are assigned to. This position reports directly to the Regional Organizing Director. Campaign offices will be located in the following cities: Green Bay, Racine, Waukesha - applicants should indicate their preferred location when submitted the application form.
