The Department of Corrections is seeking individuals whose primary purpose is to provide care, custody, control, monitoring, and supervision of the re-entrant population housed at a state-operated community corrections center, and to assist other staff in facilitating and monitoring the changes necessary for the offender's successful completion of the program for re-entry back into the community.

The Corrections Community Center Monitor provides care, custody, control, monitoring and supervision of re-entrants; and ensures safety and security of the state-operated Community Corrections Center (CCC).
Maintains the Daily Activity Log. Observes re-entrant behavior though one-on-one and group interactions, as well as through the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system. Conducts and documents re-entrant counts, fire drills, and scheduled/unscheduled searches or re-entrants, their property, and living/common areas for contraband. Maintains and inventories re-entrant prescription medications, security equipment, tools, toxic chemicals, and housekeeping supplies. Maintains the sign-in/out register for all re-entrants and visitors. Controls re-entrant and visitor movement within the CCC.
Conducts new re-entrant orientation to the CCC which includes reviewing Department of Corrections (DOC)/CCC policies, rules, and regulations; provides information on availability of public services; makes room assignments; assigns housekeeping duties; etc. Conducts re-entrant destination checks via community and/or telephone contact. Administers and documents breathalyzer and urinalysis tests upon return to the CCC. Writes behavior observations, issues misconducts, and attends disciplinary hearings. Facilitates and monitors necessary changes to aides in the re-entrants' successful release back into the community. Conducts daily inspections to ensure cleanliness, safety and security of all areas. Assists with keeping the center inspection-ready as directed.
Provides information to visitors regarding CCC operations. Demonstrates sensitivity to public and/or crime victim needs, concerns, and complaints and takes appropriate actions to respond. Serves as a point-of-contact for law enforcement agencies. Assists/guides new monitors in performance of duties as necessary. Attends and/or participates in legal proceedings on behalf of the Bureau of Community Corrections. Performs other related duties.

* Full-time employment.
* Community Corrections Centers are staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
* Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $37,597.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
* Any combination of experience and training which affords the applicant the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the functions of the job.
Additional Requirements:
* You must be willing and able to work in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
* You must be able to work different shifts or irregular scheduled hours.
* You must be willing to successfully complete 3 weeks of classroom training at the Department of Corrections Training Academy in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.
* You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
* Two (2) years of experience performing public safety or security work. (Examples of qualifying experience include, but are not limited to: public safety or security work involving protection of persons and/or property and maintaining required security through enforcement of rules, regulations, and laws; public safety or security work in a correctional setting, juvenile or adult development/detention center, law enforcement entity, or military security experience)
* One (1) year of work experience providing direction/guidance to individuals. (Examples of qualifying work experience include, but are not limited to: performing as a lead worker or supervisor assigning and evaluating work tasks, providing informal counseling, or giving orders in the Military).
* Experience working within a secure facility (i.e. correctional setting or detention center).
* Experience working within a law enforcement entity (local, county, state, or federal level).
* Experience providing counseling/guidance (i.e. lead worker/supervisory, mentoring/counseling individuals, or giving orders in military).
* Experience working within the security field.
