Mount Saint Mary College, also known as The Mount, is a private Catholic school that offers personalized, high-quality traditional and innovative programs. Located in Newburgh, New York, The Mount as it's has been ranked as “top-tier regional University” by U.S. News and World Report in the past. The Mount offers 50 undergraduate programs in the arts, sciences, healthcare and other fields. The Mount also has three master's degree programs in education, business and nursing. One of Mount Saint Mary College's more innovative offerings is its collaboration program. This allows students to pursue their bachelor's degree at The Mount while simultaneously earning a graduate degree at one of several other schools, such as Pace or Fordham. Another academic option unique to The Mount is its accelerated degree program. This program, which allows students to earn their degree through weekend and evening classes, is not often seen at four-year schools. The Mount also has several online degree programs for students with the need to learn remotely. Internships are provided at The Mount for those students who wish to get a head-start in their career. Intern programs have been undertaken at such places as SONY, MTV, the New York Attorney General's Office, and numerous hospitals and non-profits. Practical nursing is one of the fastest-growing careers in the nation. At Orange-Ulster BOCES in Goshen, New York, students can train for this rapidly growing career in a clinical setting. At the same time, they also get the chance to participate in professional student organizations and associations. Orange-Ulster BOCES' academics provide students with the clinical, medical and patient skills needed to work in: * Doctor's offices * Hospitals * Nursing homes * Medical clinics Students may also join professional associations such as Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) and Skills USA. Practical Nursing students participate in clinical internships. They also have access to job databases and receive coaching in interviewing skills. The program is immersive. Students attend full time, Monday through Friday for approximately nine months. Admissions requirements include a high school diploma or GED, completion of the TABE and TEAS tests and two professional references. Incoming students will also need to submit proof of immunizations and a physical exam. All interested applicants must first attend an admissions information session, where they may ask questions about the practical nursing program.
