Company description:

The College of Lake County, in the Chicago suburb of Grayslake, Illinois, serves students with different educational needs, and of different backgrounds. Like most community colleges, CLC offers numerous standard courses and programs leading to associate's degrees or certificates in such areas as the arts, health sciences, math, business and social sciences. However, Lake County also offers programs for students whose needs fall outside these more conventional parameters. For example, there is a program for adults over age 50 that includes classes, lectures and tours in subjects ranging from art history to current events to computers. At the opposite end of the age spectrum is a kid's college, which offers enrichment and academic classes for children ages 6 to 16. Numerous continuing and adult-education options may be explored at Lake County as well. Lake County's sessions also include less traditional options to accommodate those with certain scheduling needs. For example, a three-week intercession allows students to complete a course for credit in a shortened amount of time. Lake County's student services are also quite accommodating. In addition to academic advising and a career services center, there are numerous other forms of support for students of different backgrounds. For example, there is a women's services center specifically designed to provide academic and emotional support to female students. There is also a wellness center, a massage therapy clinic and a prevention services program for those at risk for substance abuse. In addition to tuition payment plans, the College of Lake County offers federal work-study, loans, grants and scholarships to eligible students needing financial assistance.
