In this job you will assist with the set-up, programming, operation, and adjustment of conventional or automatic machines such as ComputerNumericControlled (CNC) machines. In this role you will work from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making repairs to metal parts as well as for experimental apparatus or prototype equipment and read CNC programs.
Responsibilities:
Write/edit/modify programs for CNC Machines.
Operate CNC machines according to exact tolerances specified on engineering prints.
Set up and operate manual lathes, saws, cutting tools, slotting tools to meet exact tolerances on engineering prints.
Perform routine inspections and minor maintenance, including housekeeping duties as needed.
Troubleshoot and correct operational and quality issues.
Ensure the machine is following operational and safety guidelines.
Meet all production standards.
Run entire cell/area or multiple machines at a time.
Work in a constant state of alertness with safety always a priority.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 1-2 years of experience as a fully qualified machinist required.
Emphasis on machinist trade highly preferred.

Remove pipe from machine and place on boards.

Responsibilities:
• Performs set ups of large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump components and operations of large Vertical & Horizontal Lathes used to repair and overhaul Large Liquid Rind Vacuum Pumps & Compressors.
• Interprets blueprints/drawings to determine critical dimensions, etc. Ability to read Micrometers, Vernier Calipers, Dial Indicators & other precision measuring & test equipment as required.
• Able to maintain low tolerances as indicated by specifications or drawings as low as .0005” at times.
• Understands how to select appropriate cutting tools for various metals. Understands how to determine speeds and feeds to obtain proper surface finish.
• Able to work overtime; typically throughout the week and occasionally on weekends.
• Safe operation of Forklift within a Machine Shop environment. Safe Over Head Crane operation. Adheres to all company EH&S & QMS processes.
• Lifting and Rigging of heavy components of various configurations & weights. Assisting in the disassembly, reassembly, repair and rebuilding of Large Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
• Applicants will be required to demonstrate knowledge of machine setup, as well as usage of machine controls and capabilities.
• 3+ years of experience as a machine operator/Machinist.
• 2+ or more years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints.
• 1+ or more years of experience working on king style boring mills (or vtls)
• Ability to effectively and safely use a variety of tools and equipment, including but not limited to depth gauges, bore gauges, height gauges, feeler gauges, micrometers, calipers, deburring tools, die grinders, drill presses, and overhead lifting equipment.
Core Competencies:
• Proficiency with prioritizing and meeting multiple deadlines.
• Ability to convert between metric and US standard units of measure.
• Ability to deal with problems involving several variables
• Ability to use standard problem-solving methods (ie. 5 Whys) as trained
• Ability to effectively share information about job duties in one-on-one and small group situations to supervisor, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Preferences:
• HS Diploma or GED preferred. Higher Education or certificate is a plus.
• Experience with manual machining such as VTL/Boring Mill/ or Horizontal Lathe. Brands would include but not limited to Cincinnati and King brand.
• Proven ability to set up and operate Manual Machines, work centers, specializing in tool changes and in-process offset adjustments.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements:

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE
The CNC Production Supervisor will direct manufacturing operations through a team of functional leads. Oversee staffing and training, scheduling, and preventive maintenance for expanding volume producer of high-quality sporting firearms. Monitor and evaluate workflow and collaborate/coordinate with Planning, Manufacturing, Lean and Process engineering to develop and implement process improvements and deploy advanced technologies to improve safety, quality, delivery (OEE improvements) and cost (conversion and material costs).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare goal deployment plan to meet annual op targets (Budget, S, Q, D, C, etc.) and maintain emergency backup plans.
Meet production volume and quality requirements monthly.
Work with Manufacturing CNC Manager for proposed headcount needs and provide leadership for problem resolution to facilitate strong working relationships.
Develop capabilities of personnel within CNC machining.
Balance work cell capacity/loading.
Ensure compliance with Company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, and on-time delivery at the lowest possible cost.
Collaborates with continuous improvement to identify and eliminate variation leading to scrap or rework.
Collaborate with manufacturing engineering to identify, communicate, and drive implementation of capital improvements including creating an optimal workflow from beginning to end of the process through different plants.
Manage policy deployment in the areas of Lean Manufacturing techniques, Training & Work Standards, cost reduction, EH&S, employee relations, and plant performance measures/metrics.
Maintain facilities and production assets in optimum condition (TPM)
Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development. Detail and implement long term direct reports/organization plan to increase overall department responsiveness.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily supervision of CNC team leads and operators.
QUALIFICATIONS
(Preferred) Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques.
Modern metal cutting, finishing and assembly techniques.
(Preferred) CNC programming, G/M code understanding.
A demonstrated ability to lead people and achieve results through others.
Ability to think ahead and plan over a 3-6-month time span.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
