Key Responsibilities
Set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling and turning centers in accordance with detailed blueprints, job routings, and work instructions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and write CNC programs for machining aerospace components
Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to create accurate programs
Optimize tool paths and machining processes to improve efficiency and reduce cycle times
Collaborate with design engineers and machinists to ensure manufacturability and production requirements
Troubleshoot and resolve programming issues and machine errors

Intermediate ability to interpret technical prints.

What You'll Do
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotes for CNC-machined parts and assemblies
• Analyze drawings, models, specifications, and customer RFQs
• Build routing assumptions: setups, cycle time, tooling, fixturing, inspection, and risk
• Collaborate daily with engineering, programming, quality, supply chain, and leadership
• Use Monday.com to manage RFQs, task flow, priorities, and due dates
• Communicate and coordinate through Microsoft Teams (internal + external)
• Manage and respond through customer portals (uploads, clarifications, revisions, pricing responses)
• Develop Excel-based estimating models (cost rollups, sensitivity analysis, what-if scenarios)
• Prepare clear overviews, summaries, and visuals for management review
• Enable fast, informed go / no-go and pricing decisions-no data dumps
• Support make/buy decisions and outside processing RFQs
• Maintain estimating assumptions tied to real shop performance
What We're Looking For
• Experience estimating CNC machining in aerospace, defense, or high-complexity manufacturing
• Strong ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T, and 3D models
• Solid understanding of:
3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining o Common A&D materials (aluminum, steel, stainless, titanium, castings)
Outside processes (anodize, heat treat, chem-film, paint, plating, etc.)
• Advanced Excel skills (structured models, lookups, clean summaries-not just spreadsheets)
• Comfortable working in Monday.com, Microsoft Teams, and customer RFQ portals
• Able to translate technical detail into executive-level clarity
• Organized, disciplined, and honest about risk • U.S. Person eligible for ITAR-controlled work

• Background as a machinist, programmer, or manufacturing engineer
• Experience with NPI, prototypes, or low-volume / high-complexity work

We are currently looking for a CNC Machinist to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama.
Purpose of Position:
Reporting directly to the Department Supervisor, the CNC Machinist is responsible for safely and efficiently operating CNC machines and related equipment to ensure proper cleaning and preparation of castings, as outlined in the OMS/process sheet. The role also includes performing accurate inspections of castings to maintain quality standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with multi-axis CNC milling machines and a strong understanding of G-code programming.
Task and Responsibilities:
Operate and maintain multi-axis CNC milling machines.
Read, interpret, and adjust G-code programming to ensure accurate machining.
Apply M-code programming when needed.
Monitor machine operations to ensure correct tooling, cutters, and speeds are used.
Manage CNC programs for recurring parts and issue them ahead of production needs.
Help team members with CNC program questions, machine operation, and tooling issues.
Knowledge of operating multi-axis CNC machines.
Ensure all CNC programs prioritize safety and follow company safety policies.
Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
Keep track of hand tools, carbide inserts, and other small tooling-stock, usage, and ordering.
Suggest ways to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce costs through better tooling and methods.
Make sure all programs produce quality parts that meet standards.
Work with QA and production teams to complete first article runs within tolerance.
Help with machinery maintenance, installation, and setup.
Work well with others and support a team-oriented environment.
Adhere to Nortrak's Safety, Quality, and Environmental Procedures, Practices, and Policies.
Job Requirements:
College degree in manufacturing technology or programming is preferred or equivalent experience including CNC programming experience in a heavy manufacturing environment.
Proven experience operating multi-axis CNC machines.
Strong understanding of G-code programming and the ability to read, modify, and troubleshoot code.
Familiarity with M-code programming is considered an asset.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Proficient with precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
Physical Demands:
Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and pushing, pulling, or lifting objects for the duration of your required schedule shift.
Use hands and arms to operate tools, handle materials, and reach for the duration of your required scheduled shift.

About The Role:
Responsible for measuring, threading adjusting flange fit, and facing the flange on piece of pipe. Work also includes operation of the machine and a crane to move pipe in and out of machine.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Identify fabrication requirements on the job card.
* Identify fabrication requirements written on each piece of pipe.
* Place pipe in machine, center the pipe, and tighten for work.
* After the pipe is in place, the operator will machine tapered threads into the pipe.
* During this process, the machine operator is responsible for verifying measurements, such as thread depth and correct taper.
* After the threads are cut the operator tests the flange to make sure it screws onto the pipe properly. Adjustments are made to the threads if an issue occurs.
* Applies glue on pipe and flange and uses the machine to tighten the flange onto the pipe.
* Runs the cutting tool across the surface of the flange to flush fit the flange onto the pipe.
* Remove pipe from machine and place on boards.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Good with math, able to read a tape measure and micrometer.
* Ability to understand machinery processes.
* Consistent attendance, ability to get to work on time, every day.
* Team player, willingness to work when needed, help out and volunteer for extras.
