MD&A's Repairs Division is seeking an experienced Manual Machinist to use power operated machine tools, repair and/or fabricate precision metal parts/components that are found in various pieces of power generation equipment to specific tolerance levels. In this position you must be able to work in both the St. Louis shop and in the field. This position requires some travel. Why Work with Us? Position Overview: As a Manual Machinist in our Repairs Division, you'll use your expertise to operate machine tools, repair, and fabricate precision components critical to power generation equipment. You'll work in both our St. Louis facility and on-site in the field, making your role integral to our operations. This position offers the chance to work on a wide range of machines, from lathes, VTLs, HBMs and grinders, and work closely with other skilled professionals. Duties & Responsibilities: Determine the most efficient work procedures and tools to be used on assigned tasks. Use a variety of precision measuring instruments to ensure accurate dimensions and maintain strict tolerances (Vernier calipers, height gauges, micrometers, etc.). Operate and set up machines, including lathes, mills and grinders Contribute to fieldwork during pe ak seasons, requiring some travel (domestic and international). Be flexible with extended hours during peak seasons, including both day and night shifts. Education & Experience:High School Diploma or GED, apprenticeship training or trade school preferred. Mechanical Aptitude:A strong understanding of mechanical systems and the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems. Skill Set:Experience with a range of machinery including Bridgeport-type mills, engine lathes, vertical turning lathes (VTL), horizontal boring mills (HBM), and more. Proficient in the use of surface grinders, blanchard grinders, portable lathes, and stud removal hydraulic drills. Travel & Flexibility:Willingness to travel up to 50% (including international travel) and work extended hours as needed. Job Description We are looking for a Manual Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in operating and maintaining a variety of manual machining tools, including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drill presses. A successful candidate will be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings, as well as use precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy. We are a custom design shop for operator assisted lifting devices, so there is plenty of variety in day-to-day activities. We need strong machining skills and are looking for a smart and motivated person interested in expanding their skillset. Responsibilities: Operate manual machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders. Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams. Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on equipment. Set up and adjust machines to ensure accuracy and quality of work. Perform quality checks on finished products. Account for material inventory and order more when necessary. Possible operation of CNC equipment. Experience: Prior work experience as a machinist on a manual lathe and Bridgeport style machine. Able to hold tolerance of +/- .001. Self-motivated with a drive to complete tasks on time and learn new skills. Quality driven and safety focused. Exposure or experience with CNC equipment a plus. Physical Demands: Prolonged periods standing and performing tasks. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds at a time. Ability to frequently walk, climb, kneel, bend, reach overhead, push, pull, and use a ladder or stool. Frequently exposed to heat, cold, and noise.
