Role Summary:
Join our 2nd shift as a seasoned CNC Machinist and craft the mission-critical, tight-tolerance components that make Beck actuators the gold standard for reliability. You'll independently set up, prove-out, and run CNC lathes (milling a big plus), grinders, and gear shapers; read complex GD&T prints; inspect with mics, bore gages, and CMM; troubleshoot tough setups; optimize cycles with Lean thinking; deburr to spec; mentor teammates; and keep documentation bulletproof-all to ensure our actuators never miss a beat in power plants, refineries, and the world's most demanding processes.
Primary Responsibilities:

Requirements
Professional and Personal Requirements:
7 to 10 years of experience of setting up, proving out, and operating CNC turning, and/or milling, grinding, and gear shaping equipment, including making program edits, tool offsets, and compensations.
Must be able to work independently from blueprints, sketches, oral, or written instructions without supervision or technical guidance.
Must have the skills, ability, and desire to serve as a mentor for shop personnel as needed.

Position Overview

What You Will Do:
Our Pratt & Whitney Middletown, CT facility has several exciting opportunities for a Production Machinist available on 2nd shift.
2nd shift hours are Monday through Friday from approximately 3 pm to 12 am.
In this role, you will setup and operate one machine tool or process equipment type and operate more than one unrelated machine tool or process equipment types within an assigned area to produce precision turbine engine parts. You will perform work where methods, procedures and processes are well developed and the required tooling, gaging and fixturing are provided.
Under the direction of leader/supervisor, work from verbal and written instructions, operation sheets, drawings and other pertinent information. Following established methods and procedures, use manual or numericallycontrolled machine tools such as milling, boring, grinding, turning, broaching and shaping machines to achieve the required dimensional specifications. Recognize indications of dull or damaged cutting tools and replace as needed.
Perform bench, assembly and surface finishing operations such as deburring, blending, trimming and fitting, using a variety of hand and power tools. Follow prescribed methods and procedures to perform drilling, riveting and bonding operations to assemble various details in producing a finished part. Operate part-marking equipment.
Use a variety of media, dry or liquid, to perform cleaning or part preparation and finishing operations. Operate tumbling, grit blast, shot peen, buffing and polishing equipment, wash machines and dip tanks for part surface conditioning. Apply masking as required. Perform applications of anti-gall and polymite coatings utilizing dry bake ovens to cure.
Utilize a variety of fixed or variable measuring instruments to check dimensions and part features. Operate OpCert and other computer-based systems to retrieve and store information and records.
Perform routine servicing throughout assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions, such as operators' checklist, for upkeep and to assure equipment operates properly.
May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits and certifications within assigned area.

Job Overview:
We are currently seeking a reliable and detailed individual to join our Machine Shop team. This role will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, programming independently, G-coding, and operating machine tools to create products according to engineering specifications, ensuring high quality and efficiency in a manufacturing facility. Essential Duties: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily:
Follow all written and verbal operating procedures and instructions.
Reads and interprets blueprints.
Uses gages and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
Uses precision tools, machinery, and equipment such as lathe, vertical milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, chop saw, band saw, push and pull broaches and a variety of cutting tools and equipment.
Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal, plastics and composites.
Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures, and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
Recognizes, deploys, and properly uses inserts, fixtures, and tooling.
Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.
Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend change or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
Ability to track parts and jobs in system.
Utilizes and abides by safety procedures.
Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Always abide by all safety standards

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Qualifications
Education /Experience:
3 years of related experience
General knowledge of:
Estimating time and materials for machine jobs
Metals and the quality and machinability and uses of metals, alloys and other materials
Machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
Design techniques, tools and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans and drawings.
High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent is required.
2-year technical school degree or Completion of an Apprenticeship Program is preferred.
5 - 7 years of experience of setting up, proving out, and operating CNC turning, and/or milling machines, including making program edits and tool offsets and compensations.
Must be able to work from blueprints, sketches, oral, or written instructions with minimal supervision or technical guidance.
Must have the skills, ability, and desire to train others as requested.
Possess a working knowledge of typical shop inspection equipment such as micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicators, bore gages, CMM's, and be proficient with all inspection methodologies.
Good working knowledge and understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), metal cutting principles, tooling, and thread nomenclature is required.
Must be capable of performing basic Algebra, Geometry, and Trigonometry calculations to solve routine machining problems.
Physical Requirements: Includes regular exposure to manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and respirators.
Must be capable of standing for extended periods of time.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
