After a 3-week training period and safety courses, the inside machinist will be assigned to a specific machine (Manual Lathes, Manual Mill, CNC Lathes or CNC Mill) and will be giving a specific project. The project could last a few hours or a few weeks depending on what item they are assigned to. They could be working with material that is 2 feet long or 10 feet long. Most of the material they will be working with will be stainless steel with a little bit of aluminum and copper. Onsite there will be a CNC programmer so the inside machinist will need to have knowledge of G&M codes but does not need to have the programming knowledge. Once they finish one project, they will move on to the next project.
