The Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) Machinist - VTL Operator you will work at the Erlanger, KY Service Center to service and manufacture large scale, power generation equipment along with their subassemblies by following blueprints and specific work instructions.
This is an onsite position only available at our Erlanger, KY Service Center. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, with weekend work as optional. Available shift is 6:45AM to 3:15PM.
Our Erlanger, KY Service Center is responsible for manufacturing/assembly and/or repairs of large utility grade Steam Turbines and Generators.Job Description
Your Role
Work in a shop environment safely with zero accidents and/or injuries
Set-up and operate CNC Vertical Turret Lathes with Live Tooling
Read CNC programs, familiar with G & M codes
Make edits to CNC programs to maximize efficiency and reduce error
Read and interpret Engineered Blue Print dwgs
Understand and apply geometric tolerances
Set up and safely use various inspection tools and gages (i.e. inner diameter (I/D) & outer diameter (O/D) Mics, calipers, Pi-tape, bore gages, Tri-mics, thread gages, etc...)
Machine to required tolerances of .0005” - .005”
Determine optimal machining feeds and speeds and tool selections
Work effectively with team to ensure successful delivery to customer
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma / GED
Minimum 5 years CNC Machining Experience preferred
Desired Characteristics
Experience with VTL that uses live tooling is a plus.
Ability to follow all safety rules and wear all PPE as required.
Experience with Fanuc Controls is a plus.
Proven ability to use shop math, including trigonometry and geometry.
Ability to follow work rules, carry out instructions either written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The pay range for this position is $29.00 to $40.00 USD per hour. The specific pay rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location.

To machine component parts to pre-determined dimensions and tolerances while staying within assigned router hours, all while advancing company mission of being a forward-thinking, collaborative, and ethical business
Machines parts following blueprints and other written and verbal specifications
Sets up, adjusts, and efficiently operates CNC machine tools to perform diversified and difficult operations requiring close/exact tolerances on products with various dimensions and unusual contours and finish specifications
Selects, aligns, and inspects cutting tools for sharpness and usability
Calculates and sets controls and programming to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut
Starts and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required
Basic programming skills
Cleans and maintains machine, tooling, and parts to ensure that equipment is in optimal production condition
Maintains and edits CNC programs to fine tune process for optimum performance
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of products
What Are the Requirements of the Job?
Ability to operates various types of machine tools, to perform progressive machining
Ability to read blueprints and plants
Excellent mathematic and problem-solving skills
Excellent mechanical skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Excellent time management skills
Demonstrates company values of personal accountability, discipline, trust, and proactive action
High school diploma or general education degree (GED required)
Vocational training course completion is preferred
Ability to set up, program, and operate CNC equipment, such as CNC VTL, CNC horizontal mill, CNC vertical mill, and CNC horizontal lathes
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, operate forklift and overhead crane, and read measuring instruments and maintain machinery and equipment in the machine trade
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally; anything over 50 pounds requires two people, or the use of a lifting device
The ability to climb and work from ladders, operate lifting devices, and move around the shop floor without assistance is required
May also be required to work in confined spaces, crawling in, on, and under equipment
Ability to tolerate exposure to a typical shop environment, i.e. extreme heat, cold, dust, noise, fumes, and other elements
Must wear safety glasses, and steel toed shoes, along with additional PPE as required or needed.
