JOB DESCRIPTION:
* Setup and operate CNC 3-Axis vertical mill and computer-controlled lathe to moderate tolerance, maintaining dimensions, concentricity, and surface finishes as specified on drawings. Set up and operate engine/turret lathes, vertical boring mill and milling machine. Produce standard and non-standard products to required finishes, accuracies, and specified tolerances.
* Write machine computer programs for dimensions specified on drawings and dimensions specified of supervisors. Work from drawings, layouts, route sheets, and special instructions. Make necessary computations. Work will involve a variety of standard and special jobs with a range of operations to be performed. Use of good judgment and standard procedures required.
* Select proper tools, fixtures, tool holders, holding devices, etc. to assure proper setup and operation sequences, but deviate when required. Obtain, when necessary, all attachments and devices to secure and align work properly. Maintain correct relationship of surfaces, concentricities and related dimensions, and machine to required accuracies. Use all types of work-holding devices and attachments common to the type of work described.
* Use all measuring instruments required to verify that parts are manufactured to drawing requirements. Work from drawings, layouts, route sheets and make any calculations required to setup and operate equipment properly.
* Inspect parts in accordance with sound machining practices and established inspection procedures.
* Make required adjustments to equipment, setups, computer programs and/or tooling to assure product quality and safe operation of equipment. Notify supervisor of any changes made. Vary speeds and feeds to meet requirements of metals being machined and to ensure that excessive use of tooling and inserts does not occur.
* Perform debugging operations, as required, relative to machine function. Also, perform other duties when directed by supervisor or as required to maintain a sound operation.
* Make corrections to setup sheets, book, route sheets, etc. as necessary.
* Operations and operation sequence are standard but require some judgment in working out set-up and operating details.
* Establish reference surfaces and split casting dimensions where necessary. Select, grind, set and adjust tools in accordance with prescribed methods. Work on jobs involving several positions and operations; some multiple tooling.
* Safety - Maintain sound safety practices and follow all safety regulations at all times.
* Keep work areas clean and orderly. Keep machine and work area clean and orderly. Keep machines washed out after every shift and keep conveyors clean and free of chips.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Full-time work week is 40-55 hours, Monday - Friday, 10-hour days Monday - Friday. 12-hour shifts are sometimes required to meet delivery schedules. Saturdays (1/2 days) as needed.
