Key Responsibilities: · Independently set up and operate manual lathes, mills, grinders, and other machine tools to produce complex, precision parts. · Apply extensive knowledge to read and interpret detailed blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements. · Verify dimensions and tolerances of finished parts using advanced precision measuring instruments. · Mentor and provide guidance to junior machinists, sharing best practices and advanced machining techniques. · Perform routine and advanced maintenance on shop equipment, ensuring reliability and accuracy. · Troubleshoot and resolve complex machining challenges, recommending improvements to increase efficiency. · Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support custom part fabrication, prototyping, and specialized repair needs. · Uphold the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism within the machine shop. Qualifications: · High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or advanced technical training strongly preferred. · 15+ years of experience as a Manual Machinist in a manufacturing or precision machine shop environment. · Expert-level knowledge of machining practices, machine shop math, and materials. · Proven ability to handle complex setups and tight tolerances. · Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make independent decisions. · Leadership ability with experience training and mentoring other machinists. · Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs and stand for extended periods. · Commitment to quality, precision, and continuous improvement. Manufacture a variety of parts, sub-assemblies or tools by utilizing all shop machinery available per the outlined instructions, prints, or quality information within the allocated time. Essential Functions - Sets up machines proficiently for each job - Works from prints or drawings to produce a variety of items - Produces precision parts within the allocated time listed on job traveler - Inspects machining operations and finished products against specified tolerances, using precision measuring tools - Keeps quality records for each job - Keeps machinery and tooling in good working order, according to daily, weekly, & monthly maintenance schedule - Maintains personal quality tooling required to do the job per tooling outline - Presentable appearance and maintains personal tooling in a way that is clean and organized - Calculates feeds & speeds on machinery for jobs Qualifications - Graduate of a technical school, a full apprenticeship program, or a completion of in-company four-year training program to satisfaction of training committee - Five to seven years of on the job experience operating large horizontal & vertical boring mills - 10 feet or larger VTL's - Able to setup one-off parts efficiently & without supervision - Able to work independently, responsible, & reliable - Proficient blueprint reading skills & trigonometry - Proficient with quality tools required to do the job - Must have your own Machinist Tools & basic inspection tools (calipers, micrometer, edge finder, dial indicator) - Must Pass Drug Test prior to hire Bottom line requirements we need notes on with candidate submittal: 1. 5+ years of experience operating large horizontal & vertical boring mills. 2.
