POSITION TITLE: CNC Swiss/Mill Turn Machinist I, II, III - Evening Shift
HOURLY PAY RANGE: $22.00/hr - $38.00/hr. Plus $2.00/hr shift differential.
SHIFT HOURS: 2:00 pm- 10:30 pm
LOCATION: Onsite at LSI Solutions in Victor, NY
RELOCATION BONUS: depending on distance (minus applicable taxes) for relocations to the Rochester, NY region
JOB SUMMARY: The CNC Swiss/Mill Turn Machinist programs, sets up, and operates Swiss style and Mill Turn CNC machines along with a variety of other machine tools. Working from part prints, process sheets, quality documentation, and CAD models to produce precision components to print. The Swiss Machinist promotes a work environment that is positive, safe, seeks to continuously improve, and is focused on meeting the goals and objectives of the organization.
CNC SWISS/MILL TURN MACHINIST ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Level I
Basic shop math skills.
Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and inspection criteria.
Must be proficient in the use of standard inspection equipment.
Basic understanding of GD&T.
Level II
Review complex drawings and GD&T.
Program and troubleshoot complex tool paths.
Troubleshoot complicated process issues independently.
Support training of Level I Machinist and Operators.
Work independently and in a team environment.
Work with other departments on projects, designs, and process improvements.
Level III
Program, set-up, run parts, inspect, and make adjustments to produce conforming parts with no supervision.
Support Discovery and Engineering on rapid prototyping and urgent request.
Write and implement Macros.
Support and train new employees on work order line clearances to reduce any delays to downstream processes.
Mentor new employees and evaluate training requirements to meet KPI targets.
Monitor Hourly Productivity & Quality report and take action to resolve issues to meet daily targets.
Participate in daily KPI meeting focused on identifying and resolving issues impacting ability to meet daily and weekly targets.
CNC SWISS/MILL TURN MACHINIST ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

CNC SWISS/MILL TURN MACHINIST EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Level I
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of trade school preferred.
1-2 years' experience setting-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines required.
Level II
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of trade school preferred.
3-5 years' experience programming, setting-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines required.
Level III
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of trade school preferred.
6+ years' experience programming, setting-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines required.
Advanced programming experience required; Partmaker/Esprit experience preferred.
CNC SWISS/MILL TURN MACHINIST KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Level I

Machinist Level I
The Machinist Level I performs machine operations on conventional or CNC machine tools such as lathes, boring mills, milling machines, grinding machines, or shapers:
Read and interpret blueprints, program readouts, and technical directives to determine and obtain materials and cutting tools for the job and to visualize the finished part and critical surfaces, dimensions, and tolerances.
Complete basic machine set ups.
Follow detailed instructions concerning the location of necessary dimensions on blueprints, sequence of machine operations, machine feeds and speeds, tools to be used, alignment processes, and predetermined machined dimensions.
Align parts in the machine according to set methods and given reference points, exercising care to keep material, holding fixtures, and machine stops clear of chips and particles.
Use knowledge of machine operations to recognize defective tooling, improper coolant flow, the need for changing speeds or feeds, machine malfunctions, or obvious dimensional deviations. Correct the problem by adjusting the machine, cutting tool, or fixture or obtain assistance from a higher level machinist.
Use measuring instruments such as internal and external micrometers, vernier height and depth gages, indicators, scales, and various standard or preset snap, plug, bore, or ring gages to achieve and maintain critical dimensions and tolerances during the machining process.

Recommend changes to CNC machine tool programs on deficiencies noted; and to coordinate directly with the parts programmer or toolmaker.
Critique part designs and make recommendations for design modifications to part features.
