JOB DUTIES
Essential Job Functions
:
Set up and operate Wire and Sinker EDM equipment to shape dies, punches, and other components.
Interpret blueprints, CAD designs, and specifications to determine machining requirements.
Create electrode sinkers using CNC programming and manual milling.
Inspect and measure finished components to ensure they meet quality standards.
Make necessary adjustments to the EDM machine to achieve precise measurements.
Optimize setups to increase throughput and reduce machine idle time.
Set-up, edit programming and operate Wire and Sinker EDM equipment.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on EDM equipment.
Review and maintain stock levels of all required tooling (drills, inserts, etc.)
Maintain all documentation and follow procedures and specifications.
Assist in testing new products and procedures.
Ability to cross train co-workers in job functions as necessary.
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Participate in Continuous Improvement and Research & Development projects
Collaborate with engineering and design teams to optimize the machining process.

This position consists of approximately 80% standing, 10% walking, and 10% sitting in the course of operating machines in the Machine Shop.

Job Description
Are you a hands-on machinist with experience working on lathes, mills, and other manual shop equipment? Energy Management Corporation (EMC) is looking for a Manual (non-CNC) Machinist to join our Salt Lake City team on the PM shift.

What You'll Do:
Operate manual shop machinery such as lathes, mills, and grinders
Perform threading, boring, tapping, turning, and basic metallizing
Cut and undercut commutators, and perform broaching operations
Carry out welding, soldering, and brazing tasks as needed
Maintain accurate job records and follow work instructions
Ensure all work meets EMC's quality and safety standards
Work safely and keep your area clean and organized
Operate forklifts (certification provided)
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma (required); associate degree in Machine Tool Technology preferred
1-2 years of manual machining experience
Strong mechanical aptitude and precision measurement skills
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle physical tasks
Knowledge of welding, brazing, soldering, and metal properties
Team player with solid communication skills and attention to detail
Must be able to read and communicate in English
Shift Details:
PM Shift: Monday - Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM

Job Summary:
Under direct supervision builds and machines parts from a blueprint using a variety of manual and CNC machines. An experienced machinist.
Essential Functions:
Set up and take down of projects.
Machine parts under reasonable supervision.
Good knowledge of shop tools and machines.
Safely operate overhead crane.
Able to read blueprints.
Maintain a clean work area.
Maintain safe environment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Blueprint Skills:
Must have basic knowledge of geometric tolerancing.
Must be able to read and understand most blueprints.
Math Skills:
Must have basic trigonometry skills.
Tolerance:
Must be able to hold +-.010.
Must be able to hold +- 15 min. Angularity tolerance.
Must be able to hold .005 perpendicularly (machine permitting.)
Must be able to do a general layout within .015.
Machines:
Must be able to run 50% of all the machines.
Must be able to do own set-ups with little help.
General:
Must be able to work with little supervision.
Must be able to work overtime when necessary.
Must be able to use and read most basic measurement instruments.
Must take ownership of the product to meet customer, quality, and schedule requirements.
Must have a working knowledge of speeds and feeds to extend tool life.
Other job duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Math Skills: a) Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions.)
Tolerance: a) Must be able to hold +-.030. b) Must be able to hold +- 30 min. Angularity tolerance. c) Must be able to hold .010 perpendicularly (machine permitting.) d) Must have a working knowledge of a general layout.
Machines: a) Must be able to run 25% of all the machines. b) Must have basic knowledge of set-ups and be able to assist in most set-ups.
General: a) Must be able to follow instructions. b) Must be able to work overtime when necessary. c) Must be able to use and read basic measurement instruments.
Must be able to lift to 49 pounds.
