Primary Function:
The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up parts offsets, tooling, measuring parts, deburring parts, monitoring the function of the machinery, safely rig and moving parts with cranes.

* Setup parts on multiple machining centers including horizontal mills, vertical mills, vertical boring mill and more

Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, GD&T, and setup sheets.
Strong understanding of machine offsets, tool presetting, and basic G/M code.
Experience with multi-axis machining or live tooling.
Strong understanding of machining processes and techniques.

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Manual Machinist (15+ years preferred) to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in manual machining, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently on complex, large-scale projects.
Responsibilities
* Perform a wide range of manual machining operations including turning, milling, drilling, reaming, boring, slotting, grinding, and tapping.
* Rigorously follow all shop safety procedures and maintain proper use of PPE.
* Safely rig, move, and position large and heavy parts using overhead cranes.
* Monitor, maintain, and properly use shop tooling.
* Read, interpret, and apply advanced-level blueprints, including GD&T.
* Inspect and verify dimensional accuracy of workpieces using calipers, micrometers, indicators, profilometers, and other precision tools.
* Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient project execution.
Qualifications

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
The General Machining department requires an individual to work in a team environment and develop CNC programs and processes for equipment and Tooling components utilizing CNC controlled equipment & related software.
THE DETAILS
Operate and set up CNC machines (Vertical Machining Centers and Lathes), including loading materials, downloading programs, adjusting feed rates, and ensuring production runs meet schedule and quality standards.
Perform troubleshooting and program adjustments to resolve complex issues independently, ensuring all parts conform to specifications.
Handle routine maintenance and housekeeping by checking oil/coolant levels, cleaning machines, and keeping the work area safe and organized.
Manage SAP transactions and documentation, including labor and data entry, while maintaining clear communication to support smooth operations.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
CNC Expertise: 5+ years of experience setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes, with strong knowledge of G & M codes, manual programming, and Mastercam software.
Technical Precision: Ability to read blueprints using GD&T, apply machine shop math, and work with close tolerances using precision inspection tools.
Problem-Solving & Leadership: Proven ability to work independently, guide junior team members, and deliver solutions for complex machining challenges.
Digital & Communication Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems (SAP preferred), with strong analytical thinking and clear written and verbal communication.

About this Role
As a prototyping machinist your focus will be with programming short run and multi-axis parts using NX CAM. Our shop focuses on high-precision, sometimes tricky, low-volume prototype quantity parts. We work primarily in aluminum, plastics, and steel. The ability to quickly and effectively get parts programmed and running on the machines is essential to this job. Familiarity with 3 and 5-axis vertical mills is needed. Experience with manual mill and lathe will definitely help. Experience with a diverse and often urgent-paced team is beneficial. A detail focused eye for making high-quality parts is a must. This position requires you be in our facility, with the machines and team.
Basic Qualifications
Experience prepping, programming, tooling/fixtures, running, and post-processing CNC machined parts
Prototoype CNC service bureau experience or technical degree desired
Able to troubleshoot CNC machines when something is not 'right'
Able to use common hand tools and shop equipment (saws, grinders, drills, etc.)
Able to work with multiple vendors for cutters, fasteners, outside processes
Attention to detail and a drive to produce high quality work
Technical Competencies and daily duties
Able to communicate effectively and present technical topics clearly and effectively. Via conference calls, online meetings, and email communications with our customers
Strong CAM programming skills: able to modify geometry as required and provide design feedback
