CNC Lathe Machinist Responsibilities:
* Setup CNC lathe machines, tools, and fixtures

CNC Lathe Machinist Qualifications:
* 2-5 years CNC Lathe machining experience including performing frequent set-ups.
* Ability to read drawings, specifications, documents and modelling, with the ability to offset changes independently.
* Knowledge and ability to use basic measuring tools (0-6 caliper, 0-1micrometer, dial indicator, bore mics, etc.) and ability to maintain visual quality of parts. Machinists are expected to own their own tools or be willing to purchase them over time.
* Knowledge and ability to convert metric measurements to inch measurements.
* Knowledge and ability to work with close tolerances (ten thousandths).
* Knowledge and ability to run assigned jobs and run first parts.
* Knowledge and ability to edit programs as needed.
* Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 60 lbs.

We have four shifts available:

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Set up all fixtures and cutters to perform machining operations on various metals, castings, forgings, and fabrications. Able to operate one or more major machines and one or more minor machines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work from a "work at machine" schedule on a computer system or from verbal instructions from production control. Use a computer system to clock in and out of daily work.
Follow the router on the shop order or Non-Conformity Ticket.
Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Use measuring tools to control machining operations, such as dial indicators, micrometers, scales, tape measures, calipers, and other measuring tools.

Verify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications.
Perform basic daily maintenance on machines, including checking and maintaining oils and fluids in machines. Report problems with the machine.
Grind and sharpen tooling as needed.
Create setup sheets for new jobs or update old setup sheets.
Work with engineers, other production personnel, programmers, or supervisors to resolve machining problems.
Keep machines and work area clean and free of debris.
Able to operate forklifts, cranes, or other lifting devices.
Follow all safety precautions and practice safe working habits, including the use of PPE when required. Report all unsafe conditions and injuries to the supervisor immediately.

About this Role
As a prototyping machinist your focus will be with programming short run and multi-axis parts using NX CAM. Our shop focuses on high-precision, sometimes tricky, low-volume prototype quantity parts. We work primarily in aluminum, plastics, and steel. The ability to quickly and effectively get parts programmed and running on the machines is essential to this job. Familiarity with 3 and 5-axis vertical mills is needed. Experience with manual mill and lathe will definitely help. Experience with a diverse and often urgent-paced team is beneficial. As a prototyping machinist your focus will be with programming short run and multi-axis parts using NX CAM. Our shop focuses on high-precision, sometimes tricky, low-volume prototype quantity parts. Ascentec Engineering is hiring a CNC Machining Division Estimator who will work closely with cross-functional teams to evaluate setup time, cycle time, programming time, DFM, GD&T requirements, risks, and overall alignment with Ascentec's core competencies. The Estimator supplies critical inputs for accurate, timely quotations and must possess deep machining and manufacturing expertise, strong analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and solid business acumen.
This position is onsite (not remote/not hybrid) and not eligible for Visa sponsorship or transfer of Visa sponsorship.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITY:
Review and interpret customer RFQs (prints, 3-D models, and specifications).
Estimate key quote inputs: manufacturing process, setup time, machine runtime, material type/size, programming time, post-machining needs, and departmental routing.
Use advanced software tools to improve quote turnaround, efficiency, and accuracy.
Deliver highly accurate quotes within short timeframes while meeting customer cost targets and seeking creative solutions as needed.
Participate in project teams and continuous-improvement initiatives.
Read and interpret complex blueprints, including GD&T callouts.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional teams.
Provide feedback to product designers on manufacturability and design improvements.
Identify issues proactively, lead root-cause analysis, and drive process improvements that support a lean environment.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Abilities, Behaviors, Education, Knowledge & Skills):
Minimum 5 years' experience in manufacturing and CNC machining with demonstrated machining expertise.
Proven ability to review and interpret aerospace OEM manufacturing specifications.
Proficiency with solid-modeling and CAM software (SolidWorks, Siemens NX, and/or Mastercam preferred).
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; capable of developing creative manufacturing methods and orders of operation.
Demonstrated capacity to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines; self-motivated and able to work independently.

Title Manual Machinist - Vertical Boring Mills - WA #2825 Manual Machinist needed for Vertical Boring mills. Manufacture a variety of parts, sub-assemblies or tools by utilizing all shop machinery available per the outlined instructions, prints, or quality information within the allocated time.
Essential Functions
- Sets up machines proficiently for each job
- Works from prints or drawings to produce a variety of items
- Produces precision parts within the allocated time listed on job traveler
- Inspects machining operations and finished products against specified tolerances, using precision measuring tools
- Keeps quality records for each job
- Keeps machinery and tooling in good working order, according to daily, weekly, & monthly maintenance schedule
- Maintains personal quality tooling required to do the job per tooling outline
- Presentable appearance and maintains personal tooling in a way that is clean and organized
- Calculates feeds & speeds on machinery for jobs
Qualifications
- Graduate of a technical school, a full apprenticeship program, or a completion of in-company four-year training program to satisfaction of training committee
- Five to seven years of on the job experience operating large horizontal & vertical boring mills
- 10 feet or larger VTL's
- Able to setup one-off parts efficiently & without supervision
- Able to work independently, responsible, & reliable
- Proficient blueprint reading skills & trigonometry
- Proficient with quality tools required to do the job
- Must have your own Machinist Tools & basic inspection tools (calipers, micrometer, edge finder, dial indicator)
- Must Pass Drug Test prior to hire

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a qualified Manual Machinist for a long-term, day shift role in NW Portland, OR. The person in this position will support a job shop specializing in large and intricate components weighing up to 100,000 lbs.
Pay: $36-$42/hour
Manual Machinist Responsibilities:
Perform manual machining tasks safely and efficiently in an industrial shop environment.
Manual machining processes including but not limited to Turning, Milling, Drilling, Reaming, Boring, Slotting, Grinding, Tapping.
Ensure all safety procedures are followed, and the proper PPE is in place.
Be able to safely and properly rig, move, and flip heavy parts using overhead cranes.
Monitor and maintain shop tooling.
Read and understand blueprints on an advanced level.
Be able to inspect and report dimensional features of workpieces using scales, calipers, micrometers, profilometer, indicators, and other inspection equipment.
Manual Machinist Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years combined experience as a manual machinist.
Must have good attitude, attendance, and be able to contribute to a positive culture that is focused on safety and efficiency.
Must have a knowledge of rigging and the use of overhead cranes.
Advanced understanding of blueprints, manufacturing processes, and GD&T.
Expert understanding of metrology and use of inspection tools.
Available to work weekends and overtime as needed.
