Use of Enterprise Security Command Center (ESCC) Console Operators to provide optimum security services to the entire company footprint. Console Operators will be responsible for monitoring electronic security systems involving alarm panels, intrusion detection, video cameras, badge verification, and general access control.

In addition, operators will also be tasked with providing gate access, receiving and reacting to large call volume, regulatory requirements, maintaining enterprise situational awareness and other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Minimum high school diploma or GED, excellent customer service and communication skills, ability to multitask, proficient computer and MS Office suite skills.
Must be willing to work a rotating/flexible schedule - weekends, holidays, evenings.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen.
Must be highly dependable, able to stay calm in stressful situations, and have a strong attention to detail.
Further, must maintain a high level of confidentiality dealing with incidents and security techniques.

Job Responsibilities:

Console Operator Position Summary

The Console Operator provides 24 hour/7 day routine and emergency communications for the Medical Center, satellite offices and physicians. Communication methods include the use of a computer-based telephone system console, public address and digital paging system, and a radio based network. The Console Operator will also staff the Information Desk, providing assistance to our Customers via telephone and direct contact. This is a highly visible position providing quality Customer Service to our staff and the public. It requires an excellent working knowledge of the Medical Center's departments and their function, and hours of operation. Considering the high level of confidentiality regarding patient information, the Operator must be responsible and use excellent judgment in this position.

Schedule: Every Weekend, 6:45 am - 3:00 pm Day shift


Under the general direction of the Director of Security, Security Operations Manager and Manager of Special Investigations and Training or shift Supervisor, The Security Dispatcher is responsible for the functioning of all security operations center activities, including but not limited to, the operation of telephones, alarm systems, access control systems, CCTV systems, radio systems and computers, ensuring that all equipment is in good working order. The Security Dispatcher communicates with the BWFH Security Technical specialist or the security integrator in order to ensure timely repairs to out of service equipment and/or systems.
  • Responsible for receiving and responding to, in a timely manner, high volumes of telephone calls for service, requests for emergency and routine assistance, and the assignment of personnel/resources to such requests.
  • The Security Dispatcher will interpret all requests for service, prioritize and determine appropriate response using a high level of discretion and judgment while considering prescribed policies and procedures.
  • Initiates notification of appropriate authorities in the event of emergency, directs the appropriate response of all Security personnel, coordinates radio communications and response among other hospital departments and other entities.
  • Conducts the weekly Mass General Brigham Security radio checks to ensure constant communications with all Mass General Brigham entities
  • Documents the receipt of all telephone calls and/or request for service and the response thereto utilizing Computer Aided Dispatching software and such other systems and/or programs used by the department. Prepare and provide reports of such calls and responses to shift supervisors, and Senior Management. Assists in the analysis and evaluation of the utilization of department personnel.
  • Monitor all alarms, CCTV, access control, radio and computer systems, evaluating and documenting any deficiencies therewith and providing necessary information to effectively rectify any such deficiencies. Perform and document procedures to ensure continued operation of all equipment and systems, including, but not limited to, the troubleshooting and testing of equipment and associated materials.
  • Enacts all emergency procedures (codes, fire, RRT, etc).
  • Records all Nurse Call repair problems, and contacts vendors if necessary to resolve issue
  • Monitors the fire panel and initiates Fire Alarm response procedures. Calls the Boston Fire Department to ensure response request have been received.
  • Monitors the Code Blue system and responds promptly, accurately and efficiently to ensure that all responsible personnel are notified as established by department practice and procedure

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED required, higher education (Associate's degree) in criminal justice or related field is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of police, emergency services, security of related experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • Must submit to and pass an initial and annual criminal background check

  • Excellent communication skills, including but not limited to telephone answering techniques, using tact and diplomacy, being an active listener and being articulate.
