Licensure/Certification/Registry:
Registered Radiographer (ARRT-R) in good standing.
Active license required in radiography for the IEMA.

Responsibilities
Properly position patient and equipment according to radiologist protocols. Select proper technical factors to obtain quality images. Utilize knowledge of anatomy and pathology in order to produce high quality images.
Under the direction of a physician, administer appropriate contrast agents according to department protocol and maintain current knowledge of these agents and their indications/contraindications.
Ensure appropriate consent forms and patient history forms are completed and signed.
Ensure that exams are completed in a prompt manner for interpretation.
Uses filtration devices (i.e. boluses, filters), FFD, film-screen combinations, photocell selection, etc. to obtain highest quality images.
Utilize effective patient care and communication skills to obtain optimum patient rapport.
Monitor patient condition and take appropriate action to ensure continuity of patient care.
Ensure patient comfort, safety and modesty throughout procedures.
Wear film badge to assure compliance with ALARA standards.
Maintain adequate supply inventory in work area, restocking as needed. Notify supervisor of inadequate supplies.
Use protective devices (i.e. aprons, gloves) and techniques according to department radiation safety guidelines.
Ensure safety of other personnel and visitors required to remain in unshielded areas.
Use beam restriction devices to consistently minimize radiation exposure to patients.
Participate in routine call assignment.
Maintain cleanliness of rooms, equipment, and other work areas and assist with transportation of patients.
Assist students with other technologist with CT and Radiographic procedures.
Assist all new technologists with training and guidance in learning CT.
Work with Radiologist to assist with the development and maintenance of procedure protocols.

The X-Ray Technologist prepares patients for x-ray, including positioning the patient correctly and operating x-ray equipment. Individuals in this role are responsible for making patients feel comfortable during the procedure and protecting staff and patient from radiation exposure.

Responsibilities:
Prepare patients for radiological procedures, communicate the process to the patient and take x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
Use and maintain a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials.
Evaluate and ensure equipment is in working order, reporting all malfunctions or concerns to supervisor in a timely manner.
Process and enter radiological procedure information into electronic health record as soon as completed and provide additional reports and information as needed.
Evaluate and maintain examination rooms to ensure rooms are clean and stocked, including ensuring necessary medical and radiological supplies are filled; sterilize and clean room and equipment as required by standard procedures.
Places a high priority on and maintains strict confidentiality in all situations.
Participates in professional development activities and maintains applicable professional affiliations and certifications as required.
Attends and participates in required organizational meetings and committees as requested.
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Certification/License Requirements:
Completion of course in Radiological Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists. Must maintain certification with the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (AART) and an active Indiana State license.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Working environment is in enclosed space with radiologic equipment. Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment. Work requires standing for long periods of time. Job requires excessive amounts of walking, also stooping, bending, stretching, and lifting to help position patients and equipment. Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques. Lifts patients weighing up to 300 pounds, placing them in appropriate positions for operation of equipment. Requires manual and finger dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment (computer, telephone, copier, etc.) and radiologic equipment. Requires eye-hand coordination for operation and repair of radiologic equipment. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review developed films. Hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts and to interact directly with patients. Regularly interacts with staff, physicians, and the public. Work may be stressful at times.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
* Monday - Friday 8a-6p
* Provide direct patient care.
* Practice established safety guidelines and uses MRI safety tools and techniques. Ensures the safety of both patients and staff regarding MRI.
* Equipment Sterilization and Maintenance
* Collaborate on patient medical issues with the physician to determine protocol and procedure.
* Obtain and record patient identification and medical history, including history of ferrous implants and other possible contraindication for MRI. Complete all necessary screening and history forms. Review and update patient documentation in EMR and PACS.
* Perform venous punctures using universal precautions for the administration of contrast media.
* Restock examination room with necessary inventory. Inform appropriate parties when inventory is needed.
Qualifications
* Required Relevant Advanced Degree in MRI
* Required Associate's Degree in Radiology
* 2 years MRI Experience Preferred
* Magnetic Resonance Imaging (ARRT-MR) - The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
* Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association
